James F. Campbell: I forget who said it first, but if you see an organization with "Family" in its name, just replace it with "Bigots" for more accuracy.

I don't know. "Focus on the Family" takes on a new meaning after reading that quote from Dobson where he lovingly describes bringing his son into the shower with him and showing off the size of his dongus.

poot_rootbeer: And these idiots probably STILL think Obama WOULD HAVE done all these things, if it were not for the brave obstructionism of the Republican Party.

Also, Focus on the Family is oddly preoccupied with thoughts of men kissing each other.

Didn't the head of one of these "family" organizations get busted with a rentboy just within the last year?

Hmm. Needs more predictions.

#35: In 201, the newly-formed Soviet Union developed a Gay Vaccine transmitted via fluoridated water that makes you and your children gay. President Obama and Nancy Pelosi make drinking Soviet Gay Vaccine Fluoridated Water mandatory in all Christian churches and homes.

#36: Days after the inauguration, Obama proudly declared that he is the Kenyan-born Muslim Black Liberation Hindu Communist love child of Bill Ayers, Malcom X, and Frank Marshall Davis. Homeschooled Christian children are forced to watch films of (and re-enact!!) the conception orgy at their gay-run FEMA indoctri-concentration camps.

They SHOULD ban the Boy Scouts, not so much for their problem with the gays as their problem with the atheists. Deal with it, Dobson.

Or at least replace the Boy Scouts with an organization that doesn't suck. How hard is it to schedule some kids to get together once a week in little uniforms in a church hall and learn how to read maps and survive in the woods? Maybe make the new Boy Scouts more fitness-oriented, since America has so many fat kids.

cman: WorldCitizen: Focus on the Family is pretty much a fear mongering hate group.

They are people who had good intentions that ran amok. Focus on the Family has become a hate group. It was not always such. It started out as a group focused moreso on preventing divorce and other religious causes. They have always opposed homosexuality, dont get me wrong on that, but that was not their primary mission at first. Past few years extremists more and more push their hate agenda to the point that Focus on the Family is now all about their hate of homosexuality.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

It's also a very very short road.

My family got Focus on the Family's magazine when I was growing up. I remember reading the issue with John and Anne Paulk on the cover and vaguely thinking it seemed like a pretty nifty proposition if you could go and gay it up while you were young and do stuff that was interesting and dramatic and then decide you wanted to change and have the white picket fence and the blockbuster conversion story. I'm fairly certain that was not the message they wanted to send.

Why should they be totally banned? That's about as derpy as the FoF stuff. They shouldn't get any government money of course, but if they want to be bigotted assholes on their own dollar, that's their business.

Or at least replace the Boy Scouts with an organization that doesn't suck. This "Letter from 2012" is pretty much in the same vein as Clint Eastwood's Empty Chair Obama.

Rather than look at what TaxFartBongo's actually done, it's much easier for these deluded twits to argue with their own innate fears (and, going by the amount of references to homosexuality, their suppressed fantasies as well).

Ugh. My grandma had me listen to their Adventures in Odyssey tapes all the time when she was babysitting me, and she gave me Dobson's book about adolescence when I was about to start middle school. I remember reading it and thinking "...wtf." Kind of wish I still had it for the lulz. I'm glad she never gave my mom any of his parenting books- or if she did, that my mom ignored them.

These types of people are just disgusting, they use religion as a way to control and force their own ideas on everybody while actively denouncing anybody who points out their own hypocrisy or actually follows the practices of the religion they claim to represent. These are the people who, if Jesus were to return, would attempt to nail him to the closest tree as soon as he started talking about respect for all mankind and not exploiting the fears of others.

snuff3r: TFA: Thousands of home schooling parents, seeing no alternative in the United States, have begun to emigrate to other countries, particularly Australia and New Zealand, where home schooling is still quite prevalent.

Eh? In 35 years, living on the most populous city in Australia I've met two home-schooled people my entire life - one was an Australian who had insanely religious parents and the other is a New Zealand family that came here on a one year working visa and wasn't able (or didn't think it was worth it for one year) to enrol their kid in a school. They were both mocked constantly, because home-schooling is considered weird and American-like here.

What a stupid statement.

Also, any group that has "Family" in their title deserves derision. They are almost entirely extremist religious groups whose only purpose is to push bigotry and selfish twatism.

/twatism is now a word

I also seriously doubt that Australia and New Zealand, where gays have rights, abortion is explicitly allowed, firearms are strictly controlled, with a drinking age of 18, really present a suitable Lebensraum to the Focus on Family types.

Don'y you guys get it? That WAS a letter from 2012. FOF stole Barry's time machine and left the letter here. After the story 'broke', Obama got back into his time machine(FOF had ditched it in a bad neighborhood, the wheels and engine were missing, the DVD entertainment system, had been replaced by 8-track with 2 speakers from a 1985 Realistic(Radio Shack) home system, held in the back window with baling wire.

Anyway, after he re-pimped his Whip, Obama went back and un-did all of these things(He dove on the Russian nuke, for one), reversing all of those decisions, deciding to hold off until next year, so we won't 'see it coming'.

Either that, or these guys are full od shiat.

That makes me dislike him based solely on the fact that he didn't just pick up the farking 12 pound dog and move him. You don't get into a fight with a freaking dachshund if you want them to move, you just move the damn dog. Hell, in my teens my parents had an Akita and a Wolf Hybrid, and we'd regularly move the damn dogs if they were being stubborn about something.

#31 is partially true. Obama did implement much stricter emissions standards on coal plans and about eleven have shut down in the last few years which is putting a strain on the grid as they weren't just supplying power, they were providing for grid equalization. The belief is not "if" blackouts will occur, it's when UNLESS those missing coal plants are replaced soon, with natural gas being the logical alternative given the historically low price.

The rest of the predictions, however, are for the most part pure derp.

2012-10-02 03:17:44 AM

I am currently at a Christian message board commenting on each individual assertion of this letter, using citations when i can.

I am half way through and through the score through the first 17 items is:

Reality: 16
FOTF: 1

The one that FOTF got right is that Obama did indeed repeal DADT.

As I said in my post at the link above:

(10) Homosexuals in the military: One change regarding the status of homosexuals did not wait for any Supreme Court decision. In the first week after his inauguration, President Obama invited homosexual rights leaders from around the United States to join him at the White House as he signed an executive order directing all branches of the military to abandon their "don't ask, don't tell" policy and to start actively recruiting homosexuals.
It took Obama much longer than his "first week" to deal with this specifically because he opposed doing it via executive order. This angered many who supported Obama since this was his stance before the election. The only surprise that DADT was repealed was that it took so long - something the folks at FOTF didn't get right at all. Obama took a lot of heat from Progressive supporters (including myself) by waiting to do it legislatively.

I'll still give them a point - their first point for the day. Although predicting that Obama would do what he always promised to do while campaigning is Ric Romero reporting at its finest.

Still, a year after homosexuals were finally allowed to serve openly, this is the result of military polls:

www.marinecorpstimes.com

Predictions that this would hurt morale and would ruin the military have proved unfounded.
