"I'm so hungry I could eat at Arby's"

2012-10-01 09:28:45 PM
The orange creamsicle drink alone justifies their existence.

I honestly can't think of where there is even one Arby's. After Googling, that's cause they're all apparently in the ghetto, in malls, or way out in the burbs.

Oh well.

I'm torn.  On one hand I'm digusted that turkey is presliced.

On the other hand any time someone degrades the great state of Iowa my claws come out.

I've always liked Arby's. But it seems lately, the beef has become waaay too salty. They're trying too hard to make it appetizing.

Oh hell no. The original logo is classic. Very southwestern, it's Americana.

The new logo has no character at all.

Their commercials lately have been odd.

They essentially say "You don't want factory farmed and factory processed turkey sliced in a factory, you want your factory farmed and factory processed turkey sliced at one of our franchises."

I honestly always liked Arby's. I just don't eat their often because to me they're just too expensive for fast food.

2012-10-02 12:10:44 AM
After the great fart incident of '98 I'm not allowed to eat their beef and cheddar sammiches anymore.

The Arby's near my workplace closed. That makes me sad. The only fast food near here now is Wendy's. While I love Wendy's, absolutely everything I get at Wendy's tastes like Wendy's, so it's not enough just to order something else. There is the Dairy Queen, and it is good, but there's always 800 people there (or a Little League game manages to end right as I go on my break) and they're always understaffed. I liked Arby's... it wasn't burgers or fried chicken.

Jesus Christ that new logo is awful. By awful I mean completely unoriginal and basically the same design. Oh wow you didn't capitalize it, now it looks so different!! Seriously, did some bored company executive come up with that playing around with Photoshop?

I haven't been to Arby's in years. There's only one or two even remotely near me and within those same areas there is much better food at a better price. They used to have the 5 for 5 deals but then every one of those sandwiches was just greasy awfulness and no one eats 5 of them. I always come out of an Arby's feeling like I need to take a shower.

I do have a problem with what they call beef.

It seems weird that it is tender when it is initially warm, but let it sit 20 minutes and it turns to an odd paper / cardboard wilted spinach texture.

Have you seen how their meats arrive at each Arbys?

It's a bag of meat slurry. That then has the water evaporated off, and the resulting meatclot is then sliced. So, no, it's not 'fresh' in the traditional sense, it's yet another joint that sells fast food, cheap.

Well, i'll be damned. Snopes just illustrated this as a hoax. Found out when looking for images.

Sigh.

When I was an appliance repairman I worked on ovens and toasters in a couple of Arby's from time to time. Their roasts, aside from being prepackaged homogenous and boring, actually looked pretty decent for fast food. Theirs and Subway are the two cleanest and least disgusting kitchens I have been in(both because of the nature of the food they serve). KFC's kitchen is by far the worst, farking horrendous, hellhole I have ever had the misfortune to step inside of. Again, due to the nature of the food they cook. KFC is ass anyway though.

Arby's hasn't been the same since the Roast Chicken Club with big chunks of chicken breast went away, and the onion petals.

They squished it, and skewed it, and turned it all around!

I rather like Arby's, and their hot turkey sandwiches are actually a-pretty-pretty good as far as fast food goes. Now all they need to do is find a way to make their fries a little less grease-drippy.

Double this. I love french dips and reubens, but they're not exactly cost friendly (and their reuben is a bit different than a classic one). And don't get me started about just a plain roast beef w/ cheese smothered all over it, love it when those go on sale for like $5 for 5...

And those potato cakes...

...will be joining Roy Rogers and Rax in that great roast beef sandwich franchise in the sky within 5 years.

arby's has had easily some of the most laughable ad campaigns ive ever seen. and not pleasantly laughable but the dumbest insulting ads. the freaking oven mitt ads that ran simultaneously with ads that that wanted to identify the restaurant as "for adults" and more sophisticated tastes? i mean, really. then recently tried an 'everyman' jingle with the good mood food stupidity. and now they are trying to pan off sliced turkey as a new invention.

rarely do commercials actually have me changing the channels but arby's were the most consistently successful.

and while their food is in theory good, the product i get is so poorly made that i dont go there anymore. its really just reflective of who works there, at least in my city. i mean, curly fries taste good and the stupidly overpriced Market Fresh sandwiches tasted good but only when made well, which was about 30% of the time. The roast biff sandwiches are actually pretty disgusting to me, particularly slathered in cheese sauce. i used to really like their Arby's sauce back in the day. It has some spice, some zip to it. Now it is sugary and less spicy. And the horsey sauce is pretty much mayo.

yes, my Arby's money has gone elsewhere for nigh on a decade. they should just fold and start something new altogether.

The Flexecutioner: then recently tried an 'everyman' jingle with the good mood food stupidity.

I've boycotted Arby's ever since that annoying jingle douche found his way into every commercial break I had the misfortune of watching.

After a 10 year boycott of Hardee's (after it gave the entire team food poisoning in high school) I've become rather keen on them when I'm in a pinch for crappy, late-night fast food. Wendy's was my go to for that, but like someone above said, I feel like all their food tastes exactly the same.

They've been saying that for the last 10 years, though. They're the Radio Shack of fast food.

I thought maybe it was my imagination, but you're right. Too bad, too. Both made you really choose what you wanted, and now it's more meh. Grrr.

THIS. I like their food but I always feel like I've been robbed when I eat there.

And I agree with some who've said that they've gotten too salty. I've noticed that Arby's food has become much more salty in recent years.

I like the food at Arby's, and as a smart person noted above, the orange shake is awesome.

The logo, however, is bad. I'm glad they kept the hat, but lowercase san serif looks both terrible and lazy, and already looks dated IMHO.

when i was a kid, Arby's and Hardee's were the only 2 restaurants that not only had horseradish sauce but also had them in those big pumps by the ketchup and other condiments. I liked that you could self server the amount you wanted rather than open a bunch of packets. Some Wendy's still do that (for ketchup only), but since Dave died their burgers have really gone down hill. Their buns are like drywall powder and while they dont use shredded lettuce which is nice, they are still REALLY salted. And their new fries are chalky. But I do like their spicy chicken sandwiches, if they were on crappy buns.

The new logo looks like licorice. Also the roast beef started tasting "off" within the past couple years. Fast food is gross, unless you're so hungry that you're ready to eat your own hand and the thought of some punk spitting in your food doesn't mater at that point.

2012-10-02 02:54:31 AM
I enjoy Arbys every now and then. I just hate when the sandwich tastes stale (usually it is the bun that is stale). When its fresh it is pretty alright, though.

2012-10-02 02:54:57 AM

Godscrack: The new logo has no character at all.

Sure it has character.

The same bland, idiotic character that has been created for floundering corporations (see: eBay) already, complete with boring cookie-cutter copy of a prior logo, only with entirely lower-case basic lettering, that looks like it's designed for little kids who are learning how to write out the f*cking alphabet.

2012-10-02 03:00:31 AM
One of the best things on the menu was their cheap ham and cheese. The new ones aren't the same, and cost twice as much, and sometimes aren't even listed on menus.

Well, they weren't years ago, the last time I went to this piece of sh*t chain.

That building now sells birdseed and stuff.

Arby's around here is *meh* anymore, but it's Wendy's that has truly fell into shame. Used to love me some Wendy's, but across the board their food is terrible anymore.
Spoke with a manager about it, he confirmed: this summer ALL their vendors were changed. The meat\buns\veggies\EVERYTHING sourced differently now. It's much cheaper crap, served in smaller portions with higher prices. The only thing they don't skimp on is salt. I don't go there at all anymore.

It seems to be the way of the market in many businesses these days........... NEW and IMPROVED is definitely new, in no way improved.

bingo! there are plenty of nice diners and small restaurants where you can eat more well for same or less. Arby's is insanely expensive for meh quality fast food.

What bothers me is the last few times I got French Dips at Arby's, they kept getting SMALLER.

WTF?

For the money, screw that. I want MORE food for that sort of pricing, not less.
