I enjoyed that.

But am I the first to point out the guitar player's tie?

It's still stupid.

It's okay but seriously, you could've pulled off the opening crescendo on acoustic easily, since it's just sliding on octaves.

Poor guitar player is poor.

thanks, now I've heard 10 secs of it. that's enough for me.

Me either. I see the references to it everywhere. Never cared to click anything related to it. Some kind of Korean or Indian pop? Not interested.

Korean was my first language (did not learn English until grade school), and I think I do fairly well communicating in English. Well, other than a stutter when I get overly excited.

Exactly. It's a fun video. And it certainly beats the sex and violence we get in most music in the States.

no, the girl in the middle wasn't cute enough to make me ignore the fact that the whole point of doing a gangnam sendup must include the funny rodeo dance.

I really don't understand the appeal of Gangham style though. I mean, its a cute song, but whatever. It's just Japanese LMFAO.

I am, a little. I could lose 20lbs.

I swear I had seen the "Gangnam Style" dance long before Psy ever pantomimed riding a horse. Maybe it was a b-boy move from the late '80s or early '90s, one that no one remembers because it's not the Cabbage Patch or the Running Man?

Okay holy shiat that was farking hilarious! THAT actually blew my mind, I can't stop laughing. [Expletive] Success!

The OP link was, ahh, meh... big deal, they can sing and the guitarist has been playing for at least 6 months, and they sit on a couch to perform. Not exactly mindblowing, and not close to Oppan Klingon Style.

/gotta go see Chip's link again, and I'm not even more than a passing Star Trek viewer... but that was just too funny!

The internet kind of sucks now. I think it started with the whole "bacon" thing and it's just going more tired and lame ever since.

Sometimes these acoustic solos work out better than the original tune. This is one of those cases. This is another (LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It).

There's actually (relatively) more to the song than meets the eye. Its international popularity is random and inexplicable though. Maybe people around the world are just so sick of bullshiat that they can sense when others call bullshiat out, even in another language.

Gelatinous: imtheonlylp: Am I really missing something about this Gangnam Style hype? I watched the video (noticing its 337+ million views) and wanted to punch myself in the face - with a parking lot - after a 20 story fall. I will never get that 4 mins of my life back. So someone please enlighten me to what I'm missing here?

It looks exotic to people who are unfamiliar with Korea or Asia in general. For them, it's kind of like a video from an alternate reality appeared on youtube.

If you're more familiar (or jaded) with East Asia, this is not likely to excite you much.

I must be getting old too. I did appreciate the silly-factor on the original Gangham, but the annoy-factor barely edged out the silly-factor for me. Off my lawn!

How is it that Asian women/girls are so much more appealing and physically desirable than their male counterparts? Could heterosexuality be a contributing factor?

I just don't know.

2012-10-01 07:53:46 PM
The cycle of acoustic, bluegrass, sardonic deadpan readings, hip-hop, and soul renditions of popular songs will remain unbroken.

My mind is blown but this had nothing to do with it.  for that, I blame the 80s.

When did everyone turn into Christina Aguilera? Male or female, young people can't just sing the farking notes of a song, they have to do those gymnastics with their voices. It's a ridiculous singing style.

I know I sound old, but seriously, everyone does not need to put fake soul into their voices. They all sound the same.

Being small isn't desirable in men, not very masculine.

There are lots of Asian guys who I find attractive in martial arts films. Sadly, there's no Asian population to speak of where I live, but I'm sure if there was I'd enjoy looking at some of them too.

/Japanese and Korean pop are significantly different
//even if Korean pop is pretty popular in Japan right now

Trolling? Because I mistook K pop for J pop? An honest mistake :-)

It still sounds just like LMFAO to me. I was at a party on Saturday night and everyone was just going on and on about Gangham Style. I mean, I like dance music, but I don't really get what all the hubub is about.

Have you seen the video? Apparently, it's a My Little Pony thing. They're all dancing like they're riding invisible horses. Like if LMFAO went all brony.

K Pop, J Pop, Pudding Pop, Hop on Pop... it's all the same to me.

Other than an acronym for laughing, what the fark is "LMFAO"?
