because she's stupid enough to say something that....stupid.

I believe its called "Poe's Law" when you can't tell truth from satire.

The best satire is satire that's close to being true. This fits that definition.

Hmm, well, I can't really tell with complete certainty. I've heard that woman say some really stupid things. But it was about at the point where the article 'quotes' her as saying falafel is a 'gateway food' that made it fairly clear this article was in jest.

I'm still not convinced that site didn't sneak a real story in with the satire.

It does sound like something she would say.

goddammit. With Bachmann, what would be clearly satire, requires actually reading TFA to verify that it is.

2012-10-01 12:08:30 PM
Has Bill O'Reilly heard about this yet?

2012-10-01 12:13:36 PM
Love the comments in that article. Poe's law is in full effect.

I was starting to get angry because my school never served falafel.

That's why I consume naught but Willie Aames-endorsed "Bible Bars" and Alphagetti with the "A," "L" and "H" removed.

So sad.

Look at that ring she's wearing in that picture. I wonder if that's a recent pic, with a ring that her current husband got her (I have no idea if she's remarried or not)? Can you imagine that guy picking out a ring for her. I'll bet the thought process went something like this, "Hmmm, time to pick out a ring for my beloved lovely wife. I need to find a ring that shows off her classic beauty. Something timeless, tasteful, elegant, and bold, but not too bold. Something that I would like to wear.. I mean, if I were a woman."

We should ban lembas to, just to be on the safe side. I don't trust those shifty Elves.

Why is there a factual story about Bachmann on that (unfunny) satire site?

"Falafel is a gateway food," responded Bachmann.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Modern GOP!! Let's thank them all for trying, shall we?

Falafel is like Belgian beer - one of those things that everyone else seems to love, but which I think tastes like ass.

That's what the GOP has been reduced to. A group of people whose comments, on any given day, cannot be distinguished from that of satire.

It isnt if you dont RTFA. She could totally have said that.

Yea, if you actually RTFA.

Not so much for the large number of farkers who respond based solely on the headline. I see no reason to believe Bachmann wouldn't actually say something this stupid. It has literally been weeks since anyone paid attention to her.

The headline could have been "Bachmann says something really stupid," it wouldn't matter if the article itself was satire or an outright misattribution, you could be forgiven for assuming it was true if you didn't read it. She's stunningly dumb.

well, you shouldn't be pretending to wonder if it is satire if you didn't actually read what you're confused about :)

in any case, there's probably a greater chance of Michelle Obama speaking out against falafels in school than Michelle Bachmann... ok maybe an equal chance

2012-10-01 12:42:11 PM
Sadly, she is stupid and bigotted enough to easily have said that.

Republicans are complete and total pussies. Rep. Walter Jones (R) (generally a good man, FWIW) coined that stupid "Freedom Fries" crap as well. What. the. Fark?

If you were on the receiving end of Bill O'Reilly's falafel fantasies, you'd consider them terror cakes too.

I was going with it until the bit about the shawarma and I thought "No way she'd know what that is..."

After "Before you know it our children are listening to Muslim music, reading the Koran, and plotting attacks against the homeland" I knew I'd been had.

Well done.

Hey we've had freedom fries and during World War I sauerkraut was refered to as "liberty cabbage," so this is not such a stretch. I have to say, I was into the third paragraph before I realized it was satire.

Good jerb, Daily Currant.

Without counting the posts here, how many of you freepersw didn't realize the dailycurrant (get the misspelling kiddies?) is a SATIRE website?
