Apart from one old dBase IV utility, still in use at the central office. It didn't recognize a calendar year beginning with '2', so I used 01/01/1901 as the starting date for further database updates.

Why not? Plenty of humans base their behavior(or at least, profess to base their behavior) on a Bronze-Age religion that did exactly that. All gods start off as blood-thirsty tyrants because there's nothing humans value more than their own lives.

The ecological destruction cause of several of these dead civilizations was really well stated in Jared Diamond's "Collapse." I worked for a credit union back then. The only problem we had was an issue with our credit card processor not recognizing cards with XXX/XX/00 expiration dates. But that was in mid-1998 and was fixed by October of the same year. But we did spend a lot of time and money testing everything before Jan 01 2000 hit.

Ditto the groundwork for major IT issues. I meant to say 01/01/1900 for the old DOS-based app. Kept the damned thing up and running running until 1902!

If you are alive, you will perish in fire and brimstone that rain from the sky. But! If you're dead, then you get resurrected and get another chance. So.... you know, when 'geddon starts, just off yourself for the instant respawn.

Personally, I suspect that either the Hov system's mass relay has been destroyed and we have to wait till the next cycle, or Jesus went back in time with his wife, creating an alternate timeline which prevents him from ever returning to ours.
