Here's a hint- the "liberal" media aren't the oly ones doing it.

2012-10-01 09:17:22 AM
It will have proven that the extent to which ACORN and Planned Parenthood have infiltrated the electoral system was even more vast than previously feared, and that the bottom line is that with a complicit media and polls manipulated to serve DNC interests, elections no longer matter in this country. There will be challenges, of course, but they will be quashed by a Supreme Court betrayed into liberal hands by its Chief Justice, who remains free despite his outrageous treason and under progressive protection. But the real nightmare begins when George Soros steps from the shadows to claim his price for bankrolling this entire travesty. That 1000 years of darkness Chuck Norris was talking about? It begins that day, my friend. It begins that day, and God help us all.

FTFA: First, a marvelously amusing recriminations war among Republicans and conservatives about what happened, and it will result in the conservative movement marginalizing itself from mainstream America even further. It will start with arguments over political strategy. Romney was a squish. Romney ran too far right. Ryan was a bad choice. Ryan was a great choice but he wasn't allowed to be Ryan. We should have gone with Santorum. We should have gone with Newt. Even Herman Cain would have done better (someone will say it!).

I'm sure there are plenty of people giddy at the thought of the Republican party imploding, but I'd MUCH rather see a bunch of Rockefeller-types get in there and oust those that fellate the "moral majority."

The GOP is insane. It needs an intervention.

No need to vote guys.  Election is over. Stay home.  This will be like voting on DWTS a day late..unnecessary.

Bush v. Gore

The reason why the polls are still close is because the data has to be manipulated so when voting fraud steals the election for Romney, the theft will look plausible. Plausible, not believable.

But Bush v. Gore was unbelievable, too.

Given the current GOP platform and only economic plan is to return to policies that tanked our economy, I think anyone who hasn't been drinking the tea for the last few years is hoping for a landslide.

2012-10-01 10:04:51 AM
Don't blame me, I voted for Kang.

....sounds about the direction we are going these days

2012-10-01 10:07:22 AM
Obama will likely win by a comfortable margin, but not a landslide.

Democrats won't start having landslides until Texas and Arizona (with continued demographic change) start going reliably blue in 2016, or 2020 at the latest.

The increasing Hispanic population is going to cause a lot of EVs in the southwest to change columns, and the GOP is remarkably shortsighted to have done so much to alienate and burn bridges with minorities and immigrants.

2012-10-01 10:08:05 AM
But let's have some fun. Let's spend one column imagining that this thing is a blowout. A massacree, as Arlo Guthrie put it;

And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in, votin' for Obama, and walking out.

2012-10-01 10:08:15 AM
On 538's Now Cast Obama is projected to get 338 electoral votes. In 2008 he got 365. So Mitt Romney is currently projected to outperform John McCain and it certainly isn't because of Romney's political acumen. It's solely because the GOP is going crazy and will vote for anyone with a R next to their name no matter what. They aren't going to get less crazy if Obama beats them again.

2012-10-01 10:08:33 AM
Obama will win, thank goodness, but it will be by no means a Reaganesque landslide. Somehow that demented old coot managed to take 49 states, something that no Democrat could ever do so long as the rest of us continue to tolerate shiatholes like Utah, Idaho, Alaska, Wyoming, and Texas.

2012-10-01 10:09:12 AM
I guess what that really means is that all the advertising money has been paid and they don't have to cater anymore.

2012-10-01 10:09:14 AM
but they are already wondering what it would mean when Obama wins in a Reaganesque landslide

Even more insanity and madness from the Right. Even if the GOP backs away from their insipid style of politics, how fast can their base? You can't just wind up stupid people convincing them Satan is about to destroy everything they love and hold dear if he wins the election, and then expect them to easily step back with you. Expect more violence, even more spittle filled rage stupidity, expect more far right idiots to come out of the woodwork to pander to the even more excruciatingly stupid and angry Right. It's going to be a hoot to watch.

2012-10-01 10:09:19 AM
It would just mean the candidate the GOP put up was a freaking clown.

Maybe the powers that be in the party should think about putting up someone who isn't a daddy's boy aristocratic chicken hawk who never did an honest day's work in his life and made millions by screwing over the very people he claims to want to represent.

Christ, it's like they actively sought out the living embodiment of the asshole Republican stereotype.

Does raise an interesting question:

What happens if Obama wins by a smaller EV margin, but a larger popular vote margin?

Not only that, but it will also prove what happens when you let the Flying Spaghetti Monster dictate the agenda. Because lets be honest... The Flying Spaghetti Monster has had it in for the USA for a long time and has convinced the libtards to fight in the Great Bolognese vs Humus war.

What makes things especially dire is the Flying Spaghetti Monster is immune to kinetic warfare. The only way to destroy him is by eating him, which turns you into a libtard. I'm as scared as you.

I predict that Obama wins all the states he won in 2008 minus Indiana and North Carolina. That's still a pretty comfortable win.

Living in a rural area I have spoken to people who believe Obama is going to lose in a tight race and I have seen some of the nuttier right wing farkers saying similar things. If you got your news from mostly right wing media you come away with that perception apparently. That is setting a bunch of people up to believe Obama somehow stole the election and is more illegitimate than he was before.

As unlikely as it'd be, I'd almost like to see Obama lose the popular vote but win the Electoral votes. Just to see conservative heads explode.

It almost makes me cry when I think of the America we would be living in if Bush hadn't stolen that election. No 9/11, no Iraq War, no TSA raping our children at the airport, no Fast and Furious (it was started by the Bush administration), billionaires paying their fair share, budget surpluses, no housing bubble collapse... I could go on, but it would only sadden me more.

Take a look at unskewedpolls.com. The people there, and all the rabid right-wingers who read it, think that Romney is actually winning in a landslide and that almost all the polls, even from conservative outlets like Fox News and Gallup, are in a conspiracy to fudge the party-identification numbers so they can demoralize Republican voters.

Generic Republican always did poll better than the actual candidates.

Romney's the closest you can get to a walking, talking, Generic Republican.

A landslide is only possible if early November polls show Obama winning by a comfortable margin and disgruntled Republicans (who never liked Romney to begin with) stay home polishing their guns.

I'd hope the press would be responsible enough to avoid this pitfall, but then I remember who occupies the spurious 4th estate and grow melancholy. Someone's gonna get shot over this, no matter how it shakes out.
