(ESPN)   Will Dallas give Jay Cutler new reasons to cry? Can Chicago's defensive line follow Tampa Bay's lead and beat the crap out of Tony Romo again? It's the Chicago Bears vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, 8:30 PM on ESPN   (espn.go.com) divider line 1416

If you combined the offensive lines of both teams, could you produce a line that could reliably stop the pass rush of Mississippi State?

OH BOY I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE CUTLER PLAY A ROAD NIGHT GAME

I wonder if the training staff will be able to put all of the pieces of Cutler on a cart, or if they'll just bring out a sponge and bucket to clean him off the field.

Seattle handled Dallas.

Tampa Bay handled Dallas

The Bears will probably suck, its monday night.

Frederick: I'll take the Cowboys and give the points.

I'd take that bet in a heartbeat. Dallas has no healthy safeties, so their corners are going to be exposed. Cutler
will feast on that all night.

The Bears have a very solid pass rush. The Cowboys don't really have an O-line, just five matadors. Romo is going to be running for his life. He's got the wheels to avoid sacks, but he's going to take a serious beating. If Dallas had any hint of a running game, they could at least slow down Chicago's defense. Instead, the Cowboys will end up playing into the Bears' strengths.

Combine meaning you have all 10 guys on the field blocking, or combine meaning you take the best 5 from both teams?

Because those are different questions with different answers.

Chicago's Record: 11-12

I will say, against a team that you'd say the Bears were not heavily favored against before the game started (ie, most of the Vikings games), Chicago seems to lay an egg... although, they are 3-3 vs. GB on the prime time stage.

Road "prime time" games, Chicago is 5-10 (home was 6-2)..... which is one thing I had noticed before looking this up and seeing it confirmed.... seems like Chicago has to play on the road in prime time games a lot more than at home.

Lando Lincoln: Gonz: The Cowboys don't really have an O-line, just five matadors.

Watch when Peppers is lined up over the RT, as he will feast. Doug Free was fine as a backup right tackle, and did well when he got in the game. Then, the Dallas GM overthought things, decided "I've got me a football player", paid him, and moved him to left tackle. Free was serviceable there, because it's not hard to succeed when the standard is "be better than Flozell Adams".

Then, in a stunning show of competence, Dallas drafted an actual LT in the first round, and moved Free back to the right. The trouble is that real life isn't Madden, and Free is spending too much time thinking, rather than just playing football.

I'm not saying Peppers will sack Romo every time he lines up against Free, but look for more hits, pressures, and holding penalties there. IMO, of course.

Well, he has a winning record and has thrown more TDs than INTs on Monday Nights. Every other primetime night, he sucks...but MNF, not so much apparently.

/have Cutler in both leagues, my opponent has the Cowboys D in both leagues...let's go Jay! Use this game to set expectations unreasonably high!

Chicago has 4 guys with at least 2 sacks, and they all play on nickel downs. It shouldn't be just Peppers that can cause trouble against a suspect RT. Chicago plays musical sacks with their pass rushers this year.

IAmRight: /have Cutler in both leagues, my opponent has the Cowboys D in both leagues...let's go Jay! Use this game to set expectations unreasonably high!

I'm OK with Cutler setting unreasonable expectations this game. There are still a handful of games on the schedule that the D/ST can win when/if Jay shiats the bed, but @Jerryworld is not one of them.

Week 4's weird stats & stuff. I delved quite a bit into special teams, because who doesn't love to read about kickers and punters?

-The New York Jets scored 48 points in their week 1 victory over Buffalo. They have scored 33 points, total, in their three games since.
-Perfection maintained: all three undefeated teams won again in week 4, while both winless teams lost.
-Despite being 1-3, the Miami Dolphins could theoretically move up into a tie for first in the AFC East with a win next week.
-Two teams (Cincinnati and Washington) have managed exactly 0 net points through four games. They are a combined 5-3.
-The top five offenses right now (yds/game): New England (no surprise), Baltimore (I guess?), Washington (huh?), Kansas City (seriously?), Philadelphia (okay).
-The Tennessee Titans have allowed 151 points already this year. In 2011 they gave up only 317 over all 16 games.
-The old adage of "you can't win if you can't stop the run" isn't holding up too well thus far. Teams with the top 5 run defenses are a combined 9-10 (Chicago is 4th).
-By way of comparison, the top 5 pass defenses are a combined 12-6 (includes Dallas and Pittsburgh). Among the bottom 10, only Baltimore has a winning record.
-How are the Atlanta Falcons 4-0? Aside from the potent offense, they also lead the league in takeaways with 12.
-St. Louis leads the NFL in interceptions, with 8, but they are also the only team which has not forced a fumble.
-Through four games, the Oakland Raiders have been credited with only 9 passes defensed. Doubling that number would still only move them up to a tie for 25th, and 3 of the 8 teams they'd be tied with/ahead of have only played three games.
-The Jacksonville Jaguars have managed only 2 sacks in their first four games. That number would tie them for 36th in the individual sack standings.
-Among quarterbacks, your top 5 passers (yardage) now includes the familiar names of Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Tom Brady, and Matt Stafford. Plus Joe Flacco (third). Tops in TD passes? Ryan Fitzpatrick, with 12.
-Everyone remembers Jamaal Charles' 233-yard rushing performance from week 3. With week 4 all but over, that single game would rank him 18th in rushing.
-After his 253-yard (!) game yesterday, Brian Hartline now leads the league in receiving yards with 455. Over his previous three years, Hartline's best season total was 615.
-Talk about easy money: Carolina kicker Justin Medlock is a perfect 1-1 in field goal attempts this season, having converted on a 21-yarder.
-Bengals' punter Kevin Huber has only had to kick the ball 14 times this season, but he's landed an amazing 9 of them (64%) inside the 20.
-There have been two kickoffs returned for touchdowns this season (both credited at 105 yards). There have been 7 punt return TDs so far. Last year, a total of 9 kicks and 20 punts were returned for TDs.
-Buffalo's Leodis McKelvin not only leads the league in average punt return yardage, he's ten yards ahead of the nearest competitor (excluding players with only 1 return).
-Cleveland's Phil Dawson has already converted 4 field goals of 50+ yards; three other kickers have nailed three apiece. Last season, no kicker made more than 7.
