Real Women Drink Akvavit: That's what I was thinking, too. People get the wrong idea about the ACA (Obamacare) and have conveniently forgotten that Massachusetts has a very similar bit of legislation passed under Romney (Romneycare). I am pretty sure the whole liberal vs conservative thing is nothing more than "this is what they want, I don't like them and it is illegal to kill them right now, so I'm going to do my best to make sure they don't get their way (even if I already did it)".

Gods, I hate politics.

More or less, but with a dash of, "We've established a party whose only platform is fark the other party and can not afford to be seen capitulating with the enemy as we've defined them by our constituency. This really sucks when the enemy wants to do something which would help that constituency because that means my constituency will hate me for capitulating or hate me for not bringing home the bacon. I really wish we'd thought about this a little more in 2010."

Linux_Yes: let us hope the GOP finally goes off the clift on the night of November 6, 2012. a poetic ending to America's nightmare called the corporate owned Republican Party.

It's been a miserable constant election cycle, just what Karl Rove wants

I remember election night last time around,
a very liberal news anchor stated:

"after the Bush years, the Democrats taking the House and Senate, the Republican brand is tarnished and republicans will be alone in the desert for a generation"

Psychologist say there is a pendulum effect (back and forth) before any great change.

America is divided almost in half when asked if liberal or conservative.
I actually consider myself conservative, but know to vote Republican invites deregulation and robber baron fiscal ideas. A republican has not and will never balance the budget.

I think it will take something more tangible than an election to release all this stress in US of A

"When I was at a Santorum event, a woman told me this harrowing story about all these emergency room visits she'd been through and how she owed $20,000 and how she's going to pay it off on an installment plan," Ms. Wilson said. "And then she immediately says how much she hates Obamacare and how much she loves Santorum and hopes he wins. And there's a part of me that wanted to say, 'Are you crazy?' "

I cant imagine how the actress did not break character at that point.

So she's got a ton of medical debt, hates Obamacare, and loves Santorum?

Am I missing something? Does she think that butt foam will help pay down her debt somehow?

She just wants everyone else to have high medicals bills too.

Oh, like the rabid pro-lifers who got knocked up in the back of a Camaro when they were 15. Now I get it.

She's an actress playing a role called "Show the world that red state low-information voters are worthless dumb hicks and that the GOP machine wasn't going to correct any of her mistakes as long as she was voting for them."

//We've come along way down the slope since "He's, he's, he's.. an Arab!"

I'm also a centrist. Doesn't it get tiring that reactionaries can't tell the difference between a liberal and a moderate? If you don't disagree with them you're a democrat. "I'm not a democrat, you're just full of crazy."

The really sad part is it's not just the party but the people who support them. I've had some online discussions with reactionary conservative friends (aka, Republicans), and one very recent one involved me getting upset at something particularly ridiculous and dishonest the person was saying and him saying "your side tends to do that but the good news it looks like your side is winning." My side? I thought we were all on team USA. That's not how the reactionaries see it and this makes them dangerous and unfit to govern.
