FTFA:

FREDERICKSBURG - A 92 percent drop in absentee-ballot requests by military personnel in Virginia is raising concerns that the Pentagon is failing to carry out a federal voting law.

This is no way relates to the fact that less soldiers are absent.

Headline: Military absentee ballots going AWOL in 2012

Article: drop in absentee-ballot requests

It says quite a bit about the intelligence level that the Legacy foundation expect from their supporters.

Of course Subby's headline assumes that most of these 'missing' votes would be for Romney. After all, it is important to the average solider that the military keeps getting tanks and aircraft that it does not want or need.

This is how insidious the N0bama machine is. They don't "lose" ballots or requests -- there'd be a paper trail. They use mind control devices to convince people to simply not request absentee ballots in the first place.

Seems like the commander in chief needs to talk to the right people to rectify this mistake.

Or perhaps the trollmitter would like to write a note to the President.

But since more troops are home thanks to this C-in-C perhaps they are able to vote normally.

So technically this is because of the President's manipulations. A true patriot would have started a new war to maintain the level of absentee voters.

The unskewed polls have Obama down by over 7 points so if he loses there is definitely some hanky panky going on. Although the left-wing media is doing a good job making an Obama win seem plausible.

Well MY observation is that your polls are still a bit liberally biased, by virtue of being in the media. I started my own secret polling service and President Black Muslim Hitler is down by at least 13 points every one of them. I would recommend changing your method to reflect accurate facts.

Mmmm... most active duty military personnel aren't registered to vote in the state they're currently stationed in. They usually keep a "home of record" that still requires them to vote by absentee ballot.

However, a bunch of returning National Guardsmen/Reserves could possibly make up for a big drop in the # of requests.

The polls have been so insidiously skewed that you must have access to some very powerful unskewing software. Be safe because there are some very powerful people that don't want this information to come out.

From the Parent Article: FVAP's director, who reports to the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, left at the end of May, and the agency leadership has been in transition. Pam Mitchell, FVAP's acting director, acknowledged findings in a recent DOD Inspector General report that indicated difficulties service members had in reaching voting offices at military installations Don Palmer, secretary of Virginia's State Board of Elections, said, "It is immensely challenging to deal with DOD on the [absentee ballot] issue." Eversole praised Virginia's SBE for making itself a single point of contact for military voters, unlike other states where service personnel must navigate through myriad local election boards.

Folks, this may not just be about derp. If there are genuine issues in getting proper absentee ballots to the correct soldiers, that's pretty important and needs to be corrected. Even the Heritage Foundation source in the parent article is not blaming this on politics. They are complaining that recent legislation to streamline the process has not been well implemented by the Pentagon.

Slives: Of course Subby's headline assumes that most of these 'missing' votes would be for Romney. After all, it is important to the average solider that the military keeps getting tanks and aircraft that it does not want or need.

Reality kind of assumes the same thing. Apparently you don't know many people who choose to serve and have neverlived in an area that has a military base. In general they tend to lean right.

2012-10-01 12:48:40 PM

I don't get the complaint. There are far fewer soldiers being deployed for the first time in the last four elections, so now there are far fewer soldiers requesting absentee ballots.... this seems like common sense to me...

Oh, wait... partisan lies and fake outrage? It suddenly all makes sense...

The Franklin Center was launched by the Chicago-based Sam Adams Alliance (SAM),[6] a 501(c)(3) devoted to pushing free-market ideals. SAM gets funding from the State Policy Network,[7] which is partially funded by The Claude R. Lambe Foundation.[8] Charles Koch, one of the billionaire brothers who co-own Koch Industries, sits on the board of this foundation.[9] SAM also receives funding from the Rodney Fund. The Franklin Center also receives funding from the Wisconsin-based Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation,[10] a conservative grant-making organization.[11]

Fark off, failmitter. If there really were a problem with military voting assholes like you and your maliciously partisan bullshiat would numb people to it and there would actually be disenfranchisement. But, hey, at least your "team" gets point, right asswipe?

2012-10-01 12:50:42 PM
On the latest episopde of Real Time With Bill Maher, Chris Matthews brought up the voter suppression through Republican efforts in swing states and conservative talk show host Roger Hedgecock brought up this supposed suppression of Military absentee ballots. Maher questioned this and he called it "one of those new facts I often hear from Republicans on our panel." Hedgecock did not elaborate on his sources or what he meant. That was the first time I heard about it until this article.

You people and your desperate hope of giving Obama his own 9/11 by politicizing this event is farking disgusting and no one is falling for it.

2012-10-01 12:52:34 PM
Considering that most polling of Obama puts him on better footing against Romney than he was against McCain with active duty personnel (and some pollsters like Zogby actually show Obama up), I doubt this is a real vote suppression effort like they're claiming. Note that the claim isn't that people are being prevented from getting absentee ballots, they are not asking for as many.

Have Republicans realized that Obama's foreign policy is still beating them by double digits in the polls, so they need to spread more "Obama hates the troops and doesn't want them to be allowed to vote" rumors like the Ohio mess (you know, where Republicans rolled back early voting rights for everyone except vets, meaning that there wasn't even going to be the excuse that it saved money since the polls would still be open those days?)
