Cereal at $5 per box is a cereal killer.

Besides, beer on Wheaties is actually not that bad.

Those lazy ass farmers need to stop sucking at the government teat. Why won't they take responsibility? Why do they hate America?

Lost Thought 00: Drink Soy. There's no shortages

Soy's among this year's hardship crops. Those prices will probably be high next year too.

STFU Schumer. I don't care what your favorite food is. People can drink less milk.

FTFA Without renewal of the Farm Bill, Schumer said the country would revert to a 1940s era agriculture policy which would require the government to purchase non-fat dairy products above market rates.

Can someone explain this one? Require to purchase above market rate? Those words should not be together.

get used to drinking 2% milk if you are a whole milk drinker. either buy the 2% or buy whole milk and cut that with water.either way you eventually will get used to buying the whole milk and using water to save money.

That coconut stuff isn't bad for drinking. I nearly gagged when I put that in my Cinnamon Life the other day though.

Its pretty simple. In the 40's the government set a support price for farmers based on market rate for milk at the time.Later on they started passing farm bills in order to lower the support price for farmers. That made the farmers' margins much smaller and the rice of milk for urbanites lower.

I'll just go back to baking bread again and have toast with homemade preserves for breakfast.

It's actually rather simple to drop eggs and grains in general out of breakfast.

Just pick a protein, some dark green veggies (spinach, asparagus, zucchini, broccoli, etc) and maybe some fresh fruit.

2012-10-01 11:18:41 AM
And by the drop eggs, I meant everything drop dairy.

Actually, it already costs that much; it's just that half of it is paid by taxpayers.

The Farm Bill was passed by a large bipartisan majority in the Senate but Schumer said it is time for the House to act on this important issue.

So is there even a possibility the House won't pass this? Or is Chuck just making some noise so everyone will get all pissed off about milk prices and he can look like a hero?

After drinking whole, 2%, and then skim milk for my entire life, I was finally, reluctantly, talked into trying almond milk about 6 months ago.

It tastes fine, is great on cereal, and since I get plenty of protein through meat, whey supplements, etc, it's better for me in every way than regular milk.

It's totally worth the extra cost to me. I'll never drink any kind of animal milk again.

What is going to do milk in is the realization by people that it isn't actually very healthy, and there are better options.

Cheese, on the other hand, will always be glorious.

Even at double the price the dairy farmers will still be farked, the people between the farmer and the market will make the most profit.
