Devo looks like ridiculous old nerds dressed up like spacemen. This is exactly how Devo should look in 2012.

Love both. Especially Devo. I own a Powerdome (flowerpot hat to you Philistines).

Dude, I've played through 5 Rush albums today while writing and reading for class tomorrow, I was born in 1985, and I am mocking your ass for being a dork of epic proportions for not only owning that hat but being proud of it. And I've been listening to the 80's stuff, I started with Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows. Yeah I'm a dork, but goddamn man, have some standards for yourself.

Devo knew they looked like dorks when they wore those outfits. The whole look they were going for was geek/dork/techno-nerd. It's what help set them apart in an era when music videos were skyrocketing in popularity and everybody-and-their-great-aunt was trying to use the new medium to get themselves noticed. (MTV -- back when it first came out -- really did change the way people learned about new songs and performers. I miss those days.)

People who feel the need to talk trash about groups like Devo have no real grasp of the concept of marketing of musical performers. Devo was exactly what it needed to be at the time it needed be that way.

Whip it. Whip it good.

BTW Devo's current drummer also is the drummer for A Perfect Circle and he was all of 8 when Whip It came out.

Just because they were good at marketing in the day doesn't mean you brag about having gear 25 years later.

Saw the concert in San Francisco. Absolutely fantastic!

DEVO still had all the chops, all the snark, and a good mix of old and new stuff. They slowed down 'Satisfaction' some, but otherwise it was an awesome set.

Blondie was good too. Deborah Harry still had her mix of an ethereal voice and coquettish demeanor that slides into the New York tough girl snarl and attitude. The only bad part: her wardrobe and hair. Gold lame pants and an Andy Warhol-looking haircut made her look more like Jersey housewife from the 80's dressed up 'fancy' instead of the vixen that helped usher in the Video Age and MTV. She looked more like she should be sitting down to 'Coffee Talk' with Linda Richman.

But yeah, awesome show if you're an 80's kid and want that full-energy flashback.

She's like 80 and didn't age well at all. Let's have her do a duet with the fat chick from Heart while we're looking at these dinosaurs lumbering around. They can call it the "Monsters of Mom Rock" tour.

Saw the show in St. Augustine and had a great time. I saw Devo a couple of times in the late 70's and this show was just as good. Also, it wasn't all New Wave nostalgia - they performed several of their songs from their 2010 album Something for Everybody. You know, the one with the song "Watch Us Work It" from the Dell commercial? They are awesome live. If you're listening to several Rush albums before you toddle off to class to get a useless degree so you can work at BurgerWorld, you wouldn't enjoy Devo anyway - you're the proof of de-evolution.

Blondie was a disappointment. We left at the third song. I was never a big Blondie fan, but with Debbie Harry looking like an overweight Phyllis Diller and unable to hit the majority of notes in her songs, it was too much to bear.

Also, for all of you "powerdome" owners, any true spudboy knows the real name for the iconic headgear is "energy dome".

Only if it's an Eagles of Death Metal tribute act so it can be billed as THE FAT CHICK FROM HEART: the Eagles of the Eagles of Death Metal Tribute Acts

"One night I was lingering at the bar and talking to Glenn Frey, who was just leaving his duo, Longbranch Pennywhistle. He said he was considering a name for his new five-man group. "What is it?" I said. He said, "Eagles." I said, 'You mean, the Eagles?" and he said, "No, Eagles." The name of the group remains, of course, Eagles."

I was at that show, and had a blast! Flew down from NJ, and met up with a good friend and my cousins. We all loved Devo and wished they were the closer, not Blondie.

On a related note, the Fixx just came out with a new album and has been touring. They certainly got biatch-slapped by Pimp Daddy Time as well, and Cy's onstage antics look ridiculous.

Oh, and I have to buy the new album.

A CBGB's shirt? Really? Like that's all you had to wear that day?

Loved them since I saw Jocko Homo on SNL in 78. I was 12.

They weren't so much mingling as they were posing for a picture.

At least he can say he's actually been there, unlike most of the poseurs you see wearing those shirts.

I saw Clem play with Glen Matlock and Hugh Cornwell last year. He still tears it up.

I saw them both last week at the Chicago Theater. Mrs_Fab was a big Blondie fan back in school, so I was happy to take her to the show. Plus, it's just an awesome venue.

Debbie and Chris look and move around like your grandparents... but they do have a big, fat catalog of great songs to draw from, and she can still sing. And yes, Clem can still swing like a bastard.

That said, Devo farking killed it. I'm not even a fan, but now I kind of understand the dorky adulation they get.

A person that admits to listening to 5 Rush albums in a row has no right to mock anyone else about anything relating to music.

2 of my favorite all-time bands, touring together.

I really wish they had the twin cites as a stop. Closest was Chicago.

Going to see Blondie for the first time this coming Thursday. Saw all their CBGB contemporaries back in the day though. I saw Devo several times--what I liked about them is their intelligence.
