I just finished one yesterday. I'm a in-decent-shape 26 year old and my average was 17.6 mph I feel your pain.

Ha, I just looked at the last metric I recorded with my GPS... 4:52:00 for me. My most recent one was probably worse (though admittedly it was part of a modified triathlon--5k run,100k bike, 32 oz beer 'swim'). A few nasty climbs in both of them, though. Still, old guy puts me to shame.
