I'm not sure I see the allure of the fried egg on a burger

/but yeah... now I want a giant coronary on a bun

It's actualy quite good. The sweetness of egg yolk really goes well with a slightly charred burger. If you ever visit Hawaii, order a loco moco for breakfast at least once. It's a burger topped with an egg, on a plate of rice, covered with brown gravy. It sounds weird, but it's really tasty and filling.

I wasn't either, until I tried it at someone's request. Delicious.

There's a place in downtown Houston called Hearsay that has a burger called "The Byrd:"

Angus beef, applewood bacon, cheddar, mozzarella, onions, jalapeños, fried egg, avocado, ketchup, mustard, mayo and tomato on a sweet bun.

It will probably kill someone one day.

That would be a thing of beauty with just the beef, cheese, bacon and bun, too

/the bun can make or break a burger

That's their regular burger, which is also delicious.

And for the record that mac and cheese is divine.

If you want a really, really good plain hamburger/cheeseburger, then you need to go to Kincaid's in Fort Worth

It's not the prettiest burger, but it is one of the best.

Applebee's, Uno Chicago Grill, Red Robin, Cheesecake Factory, IHOP, Ruby Tuesday's, Denny's. These are the burgers of submitter's dreams. Mmmm, flyover.

2012-09-29 05:06:53 PM
Ruby Tuesday's Avocado Turkey Burger. Holy crap, I never would have guessed compared to the others. I totally eat that thing.

Actually I love a fried egg on all sorts of things.  Burgers, tacos.

Also on a burger- its no different really than an egg/sausage/cheese breakfast sandwhich.

The headline is suggesting that it would unhealthy for me to avoid these burgers. I guess that means I should eat them all every day.

Yay, an advertisement for 7 chain restaurants posing as a news article.

2012-09-29 06:20:47 PM
If you confine yourself to craptastic national chains.

There are good mom and pop places that have burgers that are way unhealthier.

I miss the Denny's Fullhouse dinner burger

2012-09-29 06:21:27 PM
We take eighteen ounces of sizzling ground beef, and soak it in rich, creamery butter, then we top it off with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it "The Good Morning Burger"

2012-09-29 06:21:30 PM
Why don't you just bake your own bun and make your own burgers? It will taste approximately 10342x better then any chain crap you can buy, it really doesn't take long to do, and it's really fun.

Why so many of the lower class in this country are fat and gross.

Thank God I live in a gated community so I don't have to mix with them.

Fried egg on a burger? That's a very British thing to do. Are you sure you want to be like the British, subby?

/I will say I prefer the British rations of bacon

Hey, you gotta die of something. May as well make the undertaker work for his money.

I'm sitting here enjoying 16oz of the best grilled sirloin I've had all day. Maybe even all week.

2012-09-29 06:28:44 PM
Meh, chain food is chain food.

Find a local joint with a decent burger. If I'm looking for an artery clogger here, Zip's is the shiat. When I'm in Seattle, I've been known to EABOD.

2012-09-29 06:29:57 PM
I came expecting some cool local burger joints that I might integrate into a vacation at some point. Instead, I find rubbish mainstream crap like Applebees and IHOP. And THEN I realized that I'd clicked on a Fox News link. fark you subby.

/Joe's Cable Car in San Francisco, The Apple Store in Medina, TX, Stella in Bellevue NE, if anyone has any random trips coming up.

I love fried egg on burgers, so good.

CB & Potts used to have a peanut butter burger, which, believe it or not was really damn good.

2012-09-29 06:33:26 PM
I prefer my burgers with bacon and blue cheese to be perfectly honest...

I sincerely doubt the ranking system of the burgers. It appears to me as a vast liberal conspiracy to overrate certain burgers to keep me from trying others.

You're assuming we all have $12 for a hamburger.

Gated communities have their own issues. check the sex offender registry if you don't believe me.

Best burgers I've ever had are in DC.

Rays Hell Burger and Good Stuff Eatery(Spike signed his cookbook for me while I was there)

Bacon on a burger seems to nullify the benefits of both.

This will clog your arteries and taste good at the same time:
Skillet Diner's bacon jam cheeseburger.^

I concur. I enjoy bacon but to me the salty, smokey pork fattie deliciousness of it is dampened when placed atop a well assembled burger. There are many thing bacon makes better, but according to my taste buds a burger is not one. It's like tabasco: it makes a lot of stuff damn tasty but I wouldnt put it on rare bone in ribeye.

I think the bacon is there more for the texture component rather than the taste component. It can offer a good transition between the crunch of the lettuce and the much smoother texture of the ground beef/pork/lamb/what have you.

Try not scarf down any burgers on the way to the parking lot.

That's all it takes to be one of the most unhealthy burgers Fox has ever heard of? I'm pretty sure I can do better without trying. You're working with ground beef, cheese, lots of bread, bacon or an egg if you swing that way. Not exactly a challenge to make it unhealthy.

/Do worse, maybe.

You can at least agree that thin, flaccid bacon is going to leave you unsatisfied. If you want to be truly titillated, you need to masticate on salty, thick, meaty bacon.
