Yeah - paying less for something is bad, simply because the outlay goes to government. "Being more efficient" is so painful.

Shut up, laissez-failures.

So why aren't the Republicans for repealing EMTALA? I mean, that law is why "leeches" are getting emergency care for free*.

My monthly health insurance premium just dropped by $20/mo thanks to the 80/20 rebate. Thanks, Obamacare!

Dancin_In_Anson: Bloody William: 81% of the taxes is on wealthy households. The other 19% is indirect "taxation" through adjusting deductions and FSA caps, and a tax on an industry that will benefit greatly from the business driven by the result of the bill.

What. Did. I. Get. Wrong?

Nothing. You have the projections down cold. However, my bet is that when it all starts to function, your projections won't be quite so accurate. I say this based on the history of what the US government says when selling you a program and what you wind up getting when the in dries.

Unskewed projections?

I got a rebate check for $180 about two months back for the same reason. I wasn't even mad, that's amazing.

Obamacare imposes a new 2.3 percent excise tax on gross sales - even if the company does not earn a profit in a given year.

WTF apples and oranges and/or stupid writer. excise taxes are completely independent of profit or loss and always have been. and if your medical devices company goes into the red with a 2.3% tax you weren't doing real well to begin with.

Truncks1: Well shiat. Lets just go back to the way things were because that was working out so damn well!

It was. Everyone in the world traveled here for top notch medical care. Top nurses and doctors hoped and dreamed about coming to America to work. And all and all we had the same levels of people not able to get preventive heath care as anyone else in the world. And everyone and I mean everyone who crosses a threshold of a hospital gets full care.

Remember 100% national healthcare coverage does not mean 100% national access to healthcare

But its the duty of all good Christians to attempt to screw the poor as much as possible, after all how can they possibly enjoy heaven if we don't make their lives as bad as possible now. And if that helps me save some money well thats just a side benefit for doing Gods work after all he wouldn't want me to be destitute.

Supporters after (to borrow a phrase) finding out what's in it after it's passed: It's going to cost you but it's for your own good!

It has already saved me. Last year, my premiums stayed flat for the first time ever. This year, my premiums went down, significantly. And I got a rebate.

I make a good income. I'm out of debt except for the house mortgage. I really don't mind paying more in taxes because some of my fellow Americans aren't as fortunate as I am in some ways.

And it's not only that. Health care costs in this country have completely gone off the rails, SOMETHING had to be done to force a change to the system that is going to bankrupt us in a couple decades. And this bill works on doing just that with more focus on preventive care and insurance mandates. I hope someday we can say fark off to the insurance companies (whose only purpose is to take an extra slice off the top) and go full single payer, but that's a step that would only happen once this one is taken. Obama is going to go own as the next FDR if this works. If it doesn't we were farked anyway.

Are you kidding? Then they would have to realize how used they were. The rich can afford the sky-high HC costs in this country but they didn't want to help the rest of us achieve that ability and they used the teabaggers as the perfect wrench in the gears of Obama's bill. These people went nuts over something that in all likelihood is going to help teabaggers and poor people alike.

GAT_00: Bloody William: Dancin_In_Anson: vartian: He provided facts

He provided government projection. Would you like another example of government projection vs reality? And that is just one example. What is it that makes you think that this time it will be different?

81% of the taxes is on wealthy households. The other 19% is indirect "taxation" through adjusting deductions and FSA caps, and a tax on an industry that will benefit greatly from the business driven by the result of the bill.

What. Did. I. Get. Wrong?

I didn't even dispute the quantifiable claims in TFA. I didn't have to, because even that said exactly what I just said. 81% of the taxes, or the only actual taxes that apply to households and individuals, go to households making over $250,000 or individuals making over $200,000.

You have nothing. Again.

So why exactly are you trying? You know he won't answer direct questions. You know he'll ignore any fact you put before him. You know he'll ignore every point you make in favor of beating up his own mythical straw man. He's a brain dead troll, and everyone except the other GOP trolls knows it. There is not a single thing you can say or prove that he will acknowledge. You have a better chance of getting a North Korean diplomat to defect than you do getting DIA to acknowledge a basic fact.

Please stop trying, because when people like you do, it only allows him to derail a thread into nonsense land.

He's probably doing Bevets Countering: not debating bevets (or similar users) to teach him something, but rather educate lurkers reading the thread.

Its better a troll gets slight attention if it means their lies get exposed.

One of the things in the "article" was that the floor for medical expense deductions in income tax is going to be raised from 7.5 to 10% AGI........

I thought limiting/eliminating deductions was a GOOD thing? At least, I know it was a few days ago when Romney was championing it.....

Under this tax hike, wages and profits exceeding $200,000 ($250,000 in the case of married couples) will face a 3.8 percent rate instead. This is a direct marginal income tax hike on small business owners

and people still eat this shiat up every time the "small business owner" line is trotted out. Unless this ubiquitous small-business owner has no idea how to manage their funds, this won't do shiat to them.

I make a good income. I'm out of debt except for the house mortgage. I really don't mind paying more in taxes because some of my fellow Americans aren't as fortunate as I am in some ways.

To quote an often used phrase by the right-wing, some don't have any kids serving on active duty and/or often don't understand its full meaning: Freedom isn't free.

Few things: as a fellow Air Force Vet, rock on.

I spent the last 3 years primarily as a student. Lived off of the Chapter 33 GI Bill, using Pell Grants and taking out student loans. Lived off of about $15k/year or so, aside from the summer temp IT jobs to help pay bills. Few months ago, I landed a kickass job a Fortune 100 company, and I realized a few weeks ago that I'm now going to be making so much, I'm going to pay more in taxes each year than I've earned each year I was a student. The way I see it? Fark yeah! I lived off of the taxes of others, and ya know what, it isn't only fair, but morally right to give back to the system that helped support me.

There will be no off-shore bank accounts to "hide" my money, there won't be taking advantage of poorly-written loopholes to avoid paying taxes that support education, interstate highways and other public utilities, and there won't be any complaining about having to help other people avoid medical costs that have driven friends and family members out of their homes. I'm not breaking 6 digits, and I have no goddamn problem living off of what I make and paying my due. If someone who makes at least $250k can't figure it the fark out, well, Republicans have been telling the lower class to "fark off" for years now, so I'd like to return the saying to the better off who biatch about not being able to afford paying for another new car every year.

2012-09-29 04:14:14 PM
Fart_Machine: He also seems to be intentionally confusing personal tax rates with those of the business.

that's the kicker: I'm no tax-surgeon but I do know the very simple difference between monies reinvested in a business vs. personal profit/income. To conflate the two is either deceitful or ignorant to the point that anything further voiced on the subject is invalid.

Same shiat in Illinois- Dem candidate for IL13 is an ER doctor who is all over health care issues- but the repubs are running an ad with some harvested out-of-context quote about ending medicare while crowing about repealing Obamacare..

2012-09-29 04:33:59 PM
So the two largest increases are (1) Dividends on stocks are treated as income, and (2) what you make over a quarter million a year gets taxed for social security and Medicare... just like what you make under a quarter million already does? I don't exactly feel outraged by this.

2012-09-29 04:34:32 PM
This amuses me...... The "facts" presented here likely came from the medical insurance lobby. As a guy that lives in Canada I can say that socialized medicine is fantastic! Like any medical system, it can drop the ball from time to time. I must say that I prefer guaranteed access to good care to be preferable to an insurance company telling me the kidney infection I had in 1985 is the reason I now have kidney cancer and therefore a preexisting condition so I must now die.

I laugh at all the crap I hear on American TV regarding Canadian health care. They are just straight up lying. They are using elective surgery wait times to represent life saving surgery times. For those there is no wait or at most very similar to USA wait times.

Oh us poor Canadians, with our death panels.... HAHAHAHAHHAH..... Oh my. You guys down south..... please enjoy paying more public dollars per person for health care than we do even though you are a *snicker* private *snicker* system. You are a public system that pays insurance prices! But hold on to that! it is important because..... FREEDOM!!!!! Freedom to get bilked but freedom just the same.

2012-09-29 04:35:40 PM
Not a single one of those taxes affect me, or the vast majority of Americans. What does affect me is the fact that I tried to apply for individual health insurance while I started a company, and was denied and couldn't get insurance no matter how much I paid. Obamacare makes that illegal in 2014. Go fark yourself Grover.

2012-09-29 04:36:01 PM
