WTF is with today's shows...4 shows..and then hunker down for 4 months and do 4 more shows after a few months of downtime?

That's not a "season" that's a mini series.

A season of shows is 20 or 24..episodes straight through..then summer re-runs..and back again in Fall. With "new" shows after the summer break. (because you need to get outside in the summer).

No wonder shows today can't find a audience...you simply can not find the shows each week because they're rare things for new shows...and no "Tune in at X time next week"--no consistency where people would make it a point to watch the show at airtime. The only audience are hard core fans.

Well, first off, it's a British show, and their seasons are usually only around 12 or 13 episodes.

Second, BBC is splitting the season because they only decided to fund a 14 episode season this year, and wanted to get some of it aired this year, so that Doctor Who wouldn't go over a year without a new episode, and to get the show more in line with American seasons.

Also, most American cable shows have seasons of roughly 13 episodes these days, and are of a much higher quality than the network TV shows with 22-24 episodes. Also, many cable shows do the split season, with half the season's episodes aired in one block, then the other half aired a few months later... much like Doctor Who is doing. And it doesn't hurt the cable shows a bit, seeing as how shows like Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy are among the highest rated on cable.

I'm a longtime fan of Doctor Who and I'd love a 24 episode season as much as anyone but seeing as how that will never be an option with the BBC, I think this is a good alternative. Every episode feels more like an 'event' this way. If we had Who all the time people would take it for granted and stop watching. And from a sales perspective it must be working out well for them seeing how they triple-dip the video releases now with part one, part two and complete series sets.

What I want to know is whether or not we'll see new episodes in the fall of 2013, since that's technically the 50th anniversary of the show (November 23rd).

Has anyone in fark land found a full size mold for weeping or screaming angels? I want to line my driveway with a few but still have not seen a mold. Think at least 5' tall with room to put a support structure inside. I know that full size statues can be purchased from a company in the UK but at of 2k+ a pop plus freight to ship it would make putting 6 or more a discussion with the wife I do not really want to have.

I think I suffer from Weeping Angel Derangement Syndrome.

They were SO COOL in Blink... but then when the second one changed the rules of how they operate it ruined them for me completely.

Is there a cure? Is there a treatment? Will this episode rearrange my derangement or will I only find a tall glass of I told you so?

'Cuz there's no way I'm *not* going to watch it...

Aliens that don't need computer animation or complex practicals?

Just a statue that stands still and can be reused endlessly for free?

The BBC would make EVERY show about the weeping angels if they could.

Agreed. Blink was bloody creepy (and awesome). For most of the episode the angels didn't have any real facial expressions, but they'd get weirdly closer (often without the characters noticing). That was bizarre and cool.

The episodes "The Time of Angels" and "Flesh and Stone" (where they were on a planet with a crashed spaceship investigating the weeping angels with River Song and a bunch of militarized priests) were just weird insofar as the angels are concerned.

I think the angels are a bit overdone, personally.

In honor of Tellingthem giving me TF for a month in the first DW thread (as my month expires tomorrow), I will leave you farkers with this great news.

If you want to see how Oswin "took off her Dalek casing" for a BBC drama, the Sun is there with a NSFW picture. I'm not at home so I can't link, but feel free to steal my phrasing for a greenlight. If no one can find it, I'll post when I'm home.

All I ask is that in honor of Tellingthem's gift, that thread or this have Daleks photoshopped with the words EJACULATE, EJACULATE. I think that shall be a noble tribute.

This show has become little more than a bad joke. A parody of itself. I thought it couldn't get any worse than Davies made it, but it has. Honestly, I'd watch that dreadful American version movie before I'd watch another episode of this tripe.

So, are we making odds on how the Ponds leave the show?

Possibilities:
1) Amy dies, Rory lives
2) Rory dies, Amy lives
3) Amy and Rory get attacked by the Angels and sent back in time, and stay there
4) Amy and Rory simply decide to stop traveling

My money is on (3). Other guesses I'm missing?

Can you provide some details to why you feel like this. I have a hard time explaining this to the wife, who hates Moffat, but continues to watch the show.

Some even shorter. Misfits is only six a series, and some of their even shorter ones (Sherlock, A Touch of Cloth) are fantastic.

Yeah, although they've added three new cast members as well as making the power merchant into a main character. I'm cautiously optimistic. There were a lot of things I disliked about the third series, but there's still a lot of potential to the show.

Kelly was still around at the end of the last series, but Lauren Socha (the actress) decided post-season not to return for series four.
