I'm pretty sure I'm gonna burn in hell for larfing at that headline, but not before I spend 30 years in a 'memory care' center wearing adult diapers.

2012-09-28 08:53:27 PM
It's very much to be hoped Search & Rescue will not be needed. But some folk are Standing By just in case ....

Humor helped our family when dealing with my grandmother's battle with it, as well as my mother's late-life dementia. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

HOTY candidate there. Just the right amount of schadenfreude.

My favorite t-shirt is very colorful and says "Clayton County Car Show for Alzheimer's". I wish I knew where I got it.

Same here. Grandma would ask us our names every 10 minutes or so. We'd give her fake ones if Mom wasn't listening.

Abuela hated my mom, but loved her sister. The last three years she always thought my mom was her sister, so she was nice to her for the first time in 50 years. The rest of us caught on and took on names of other relatives she liked.

As a person who's mother has Alzheimer's I found this headline to be hilarious.

/I prepurchased my ticket to hell and got a window seat.

I understand. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. His memory was a little shaky.

I just met you
And this is crazy,
But I have Alzheimer's,
And I just met you.

Who is this Alzheimer and why does'nt he just drive there?

2012-09-28 09:18:57 PM
Grandmother had Alzheimer's in the months before she passed. The drugs she was on--nice opiates and oxy, plus morphine, holy god--didnt help
But she was a riot. Beat the crap out of stand-up comedians. Kept calling me Paul, too.

I miss her, but goddamn Alzheimer's can be funny. So yeah I have a seat by the lavatory booked.

The upside to Alzheimers? Every day you make new friends.

2012-09-28 09:31:08 PM
My father is in the final stages of Alzheimer's, He barely eats or drinks, and is drawn into the fetal position. He hasn't known me for the past year.

Having said that, I applaud the subby. I laugh at it, because Dad would have. We crack jokes about it because thats how we deal with it.

2012-09-28 10:02:40 PM
Oh God, this is not funny. So why am I LMFAO!
