What I don't get is why people assume just because someone who is not of the same race or ethnicity that they cannot comprehend or explain how a race other than their own feels over particular issues.

We need more understanding and less victimization in this world.

It's like you must only have a certain mindset or affiliation in order to lay claim to know how x group feels. Your own statement above is similar to what blacks were told by whites (some of whom called themselves allies trying to help) post-Reconstruction through dawn-of-Civil-Rights-era. It is also similar to what women of color were told by white women throughout the gestation and birthing of the suffragist movements and women's lib. It is also similar to what transexuals are told by both homo men and lesbian women in the Alphabet Soup battles for Recognition, Marriage Equality and Beyond.

The Democrats are not on it. A fire must continually be forced beneath feet. The other part of your comment above is that such shifts have a way of going in .. unintentional .. directions, which only seem out of nowhere. Democrats have made a mistake in treating the varied issues of Hispanics as though from one monolith group, and they will pay for it if they continue to sleep on it.
