Do we really have to pollute a beer thread with politics on a Friday afternoon?

I will be at the Vankleek Hill Oktoberfest tomorrow, drinking as many of these as I can:

i49.tinypic.com

I wish everyone a happy, drunken weekend.

Except those of you who like pumpkin ale. It's never as good as you think.

Drew drinks Heineken and is a Ron Paul supporter.

Heineken is gross (sorry Drew) and Sam Adams is awesome. But I vote Democrat.

I like a good stout. Especially a good bourbon barrel stout.
The Bluegrass Brewing Company Jefferson Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout is the best of the bourbon barrel stouts. Just look at how long of a name it has.

What I gather from that chart is that if you care about high quality beer, you are more likely to vote. makes sense; people who are more engaged with the world want to drink something better than Bud Light. If you drink shiatty beer, you don't care as much about politics, and likely not about personal hygiene either.

Next thing they'll wanna mix is religion and booze.

I know people love to hate on cheap beer, but if you're going to spend a day in the hot drinking, a heavy beer isn't going to cut it. Sometimes you need the cheap shiat.

pretty much this. No one I know drinks Heineken, plenty of them drink Sam Adams. This isn't really a fair comparison, though, unless they specifically mean "Boston Lager" (DNRTFA) since there are so many varieties of Sammy.

You sound fat. Seriously you know how many calories are in a hefeweizen?

To be fair my love of beer has me a round shaped in the middle.

Drinking games also call for shiatty beer. For example, I'm going to drink nothing but PBR tallboys and shots of moonshine during the Presidential debates. Because there are some times in life where the only way to enjoy a shiatty situation is to make it worse.

Ayinger Hefes are some of my favorite.

Although my all-time favorite beer, may be Ayinger's Altbairisch Dunkel

Heard this on the news this morning... I'm not sure that I buy what they're selling. Me thinks they've sampled a bit too much of the beer.

Drinking Sam Adams has an entirely different meaning in Oregon.

But, seriously, I find it hard to believe Sam Adams would be a Republican beer. It's a decent beer.

Same here, for the most part. I only started drinking beer when we took our latest trip to Germany, and when you start out on good German beers it's hard to drink stateside domestic. Though the local breweries around Michigan where my folks live have some excellent beer.

Frankenmuth Brewing Company is the shiat, my friend.

Heineken sucks. And I'm a liberal.

Also notice all the light beers on the right side. There's only one light (Michelob) on the left. Make of that what you will.

Sam Adams, Yuengling, and Sierra Nevada are my three go-to beers, does that make me a center-right voter? (Ha, no way, I'm a lefty)

Also, where's PBR? Is it too far off the lower left corner to show up?

I used to drink Dos Equis and Shiner Bock (which is weird, since I'm not an insane hardline right-winger as the chart shows), but I went to Germany a couple years ago and discovered the awesomeness that is hefeweizen. There's a beer store in town that lets you make your own 6-packs, so I usually get a variety of what they have, but always multiple Ayingers.

I'll admit, I have a bit of a gut... but I don't drink often, definitely not daily. For one, I probably couldn't afford it.

Exactly, in July I go for Grain Belt Premium, better than the Bud/Miller/Coors lights but light enough for the midsummer heat.

Not to rain on your hipster parade, but Westvleteren 12 can be purchased at the monastery (1 crate / car) and it has been imported to the US in a specialty six-pack that comes with a glass.

And yes, you did post the 12, not the 8 or the Blonde. The latter two aren't distributed but can be purchased at the monastery as well.

Sam Adams is pretty much my "go-to" beer, and there is no way in hell I'd choose a Republican for anything. Except, perhaps, first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Toss your shiatty beer and pickup some Radeberger pilsners. They taste great and you can drink them all day.

I drink Hefeweizens, any Belgian or Belgian-style tripel or witbier I can find (especially if brewed in Québec by Dieu du Ciel! or Unibroue, and craft brewed stouts whenever I can find them... please go ahead and draw any conclusions about my politics. I'm all ears.

I am from California.

The Tuborg Julebryg is only available in Denmark (I have Danish friends) :)

Also; Here in Utah you can order any type of beer, wine or booze you want from the State liquor store as long as you order a case or more.

My preferred beer is there.

It's right on the X axis (voter turnout=100).

But, I'm actually an incorrigible voter. I don't miss elections. I'm even there for the pissant municipal votes. Maybe I have a problem.
