I wonder if you could, based on what he's released so far, fabricate a "reasonable" yet incriminating set of tax returns?

The only way he could clear it up is if he released his real tax returns. No one will take Mitt at his word that the released fakes are fake.

They might just be waiting for mid October, or realize such a stunt would probably hurt Obama more than Romney, or really really realized there are not many lulz involved.

I'm honestly curious how the value of bitcoins has been affected by this, but I'm too lazy to look it up. I know they're famous for rapid inflation/deflation, but I wasn't sure if there were speculators who bought in on the outside hope that there was going to be a sudden demand for 1% of the entire monetary base from very motivated buyers (Romney or some rich paranoid partisans afraid it had something in it and wanted to make sure it was/wasn't released [depending on their politics].) Anyone know? If it did, we can expect the value of bitcoins to crash once again.

Even if these people really have Mitt's returns, they blew it. Nobody's going to believe anything they release now, after their extortion attempts and all of this time to fabricate the documents. Luckily, nobody needs these, Mitt's doing more damage to himself than anything except the REAL returns could do, anyway...

I'm only quoting you to drive home the point that this silly meme will never catch on no matter how many times you goombas post it on the internet.

It has to have an air of truth to stick. The "we get it, he's black" meme does have an air of truth because racism really is a component of the opposition to Obama.

Yours, on the other hand, kinda falls flat when you consider Mitt's only opponent brought in $1.7 million dollars last year, making him quite wealthy.

But keep farking that chicken.

So, they release tax returns and claim they were Mitt's. If he denies that they're accurate then he has the burden to prove them false. Until then - I fully believe whatever nonsense they release. If it turns out that he's a woman named Tina with a history of cervical cancer then I shall call it Tina. He can set the record straight but the burden of proof is on him.

I'd just be curious is the fabricated some 2009 returns with the tax amnesty included. Even if the returns are fake, it may encourage a reporter to two to directly ask Mitt about the amnesty. That could be interesting.

keytronic: Had they released them right away, they may have had some plausible credibility.

Really, why? What part of extortion makes the claims untrue? In fact, its usually the opposite.

As an example, the rumor is that RG3 is gay and was being blackmailed for it. Does the fact that he was blackmailed make that less or more believable?

And people think this is a hoax? Why the hell do you think that?

FTFA - "An anonymous claim made online earlier this month says that Friday is the day the world might see copies of Republican nominee Mitt Romney's tax records.

Whether there is any validity to the statement, federal investigators won't say."

Translation - yes there is.

FTFA (next couple paragraphs) - "Earlier this month, the Secret Service confiscated packages delivered to Williamson County Republican and Democratic offices containing a flash drive and a letter. The letter stated an encrypted copy of the candidate's tax filings was on each drive, and for the price of $1 million the buyer could guarantee the release of Romney's tax records - or their secrecy."

So yes, this was definitely real. Unless the article is simply filled with lies, but the story checks out.

Capital gains from his heavy investment in the $8B Topeka Abortionplex?

Repeated deductions for a dependent child named "Rafalca'?

The truth about the disappearances of Lymon Johnson and Chuck Cunningham?

Or maybe it's just that he took the 2009 tax amnesty and/or didn't tithe enough.

You're right, that could be the needed prod to bring it up. Maybe. I doubt these people will ever ask Romney REAL questions, but who knows?
