In that I actively root against Sergio.

Yep. I see a lot of the kids on tour around my area out drinking.

I know they are Americans, but I see Keegan Bradley and Fowler around quite a bit. I saw Ricky driving his 911 GT3 RS on Monday.

It boggles my mind how Tiger can be so good, yet hit so badly off the tee.

Big swing in the last 20 minutes - US ahead in two, Tiger and Stricker could get even despite spraying the ball everywhere on the front 9.

It's the one massive flaw in his game for the past decade or more- he can't drive it straight to save his life.

And I agree with your earlier post- it's very hard to root against Rory. For that matter, same applies to Graeme.

From what I heard during the week, it seems like that's the plan- Phil and Keegan will play together today and tomorrow. Phil was reported to have told Keegan something like "we'll play your ball, I'll adjust." In other words- "Keegan, play your game and I'll work with you."

I'd take my chances with Tiger to figure it out by tomorrow. He's been playing pretty good golf through the FedEx cup. Send a Denny's waitress to his room. He'll be fine.

I can see that, but I think his morning issues will require *a lot* of "grinding out". The problem could be that his partner has to carry him, putting more pressure on the partner.

I understand the Phil hate, given his 'FIGJAM' attitude (which has been talked about by many for years), but I've never witnessed (TV, print, etc.) an instance of him being hate-able. He always seems nice in interviews, and he does stuff like this (^) w/o making a big deal. Is there a genesis to your hate, or just a 'feel' thing?

A guy I actually can't stand is Rory Sabbatini - if you can't have a good, relaxed round playing with Ben Crane, I just don't know what to say.

Loomy: A guy I actually can't stand is Rory Sabbatini - if you can't have a good, relaxed round playing with Ben Crane, I just don't know what to say.

I think he showed remarkable restraint in not murdering Crane.

Loomy: alcoda: Love the Ryder Cup, but it puts me in the unfortunate position of having to root for Mickleson. He's doing great, as are the others, but God how I hate that man.

I think a lot of the figjam talk is just jealousy from other players. Granted Phil probably helps it some but he is not a bad dude.

Sabbatini is just a massive dickhead. He's the type of guy who gets impatient at fast food restaurants or buffet lines.

and I remember his actions after he threw up all over himself at Wingfoot. He could have been a sulking dick like Tiger but he was funny in the press conference and even signed autographs.

You don't need video. There is a shot by shot commentary on the Ryder Cup site.

If Woods doesn't sit tomorrow morning, DLIII needs to be fired. You have to put out the best 4 teams in order to win each session and Woods isn't part of any combo that would qualify as such.

The 4 teams tomorrow morning should be:

Phil/Bradley

Dufner/Z Johnson

Some combo of Bubba, Webb, Kuchar and D Johnson as teams 3 and 4

Furyk and Snedeker could also come back tomorrow if DLIII wants (since they took Rory and Graeme to the 18th this morning)

And now I see that has I typed that, the over came in as Tiger won the 14th.

You'd think you'd be eating crow after seeing how well Woods turned it around after this morning's match.

He's won every hole for his team and just stuck it to within 3ft on the 17th.

The problem with this afternoon was not Tiger Woods.

The Belgian is lights out.

But Woods is clearly best when he controls his own destiny. If he can just play his game, he'll be fine 95% of the time. But alternate shot isn't his game and Tiger's performance today proves that. Sit him tomorrow morning since there's clearly better options and have him ready in the afternoon.

Tomorrow morning is tomorrow morning but everyone was biatching about him out this afternoon or even why he was in the Ryder Cup at all.

That said, you definitely sit Stricker because the GolfChannel on-course commentators were saying something is wrong with him (and leaving a 6 iron 10 yards short on a 185yd hole would tell you that) so perhaps you sit Woods as well if you already have teams you are comfortable with.

I definitely agree with that. But if you just sit Stricker, who does Tiger work with tomorrow morning? Based on how things have gone today, I'm very leery about splitting any teams up.

If Stricker sits and Tiger plays in the morning, Tiger will playing with Furyk, pretty much guaranteed. Although I'd actually like to see Tiger play with Snedeker or Dufner.

Tiger/Sned would be a bold gamble. I like it. Snedecker has to get one round before sunday. Stricker should sit Sunday too, but unfortunately, he has to play. He was awful. Tiger at least pulled his head out of his ass and carded 7 birdies in the afternoon. But Colsaert was out of his mind with the putter. This too shall pass.

Phil/Keegan and Webb/Bubba are hot hot hot. Let them dogs hunt.

Loves me some Ryder Cup.

That's a rematch of the 1st match of the morning Friday. The Euros had to win it on 18. To me, that gives the USA a shot at a halved point there, at least. I think the worst case scenario for the USA is a 2-2 session like Friday (winning the 1st 2 like you predicted). In fact, that's what I'll predict: 2-2.

And don't think for a second that DLIII wouldn't be OK with it ending 2-2. The Euros need to get at least 2.5 out of Saturday morning.

I was one of thoes people... The way Tiger was spraying it around in the morning session, it didn't make sense to me to send him right back out there when his head looked totally out of it. I'm glad I was wrong and that he played a whole lot better in the afternoon match. Just too bad he ran into a buzzsaw.

Sit Tiger? Finally!

2012-09-29 08:23:31 AM
If you're going to sit Tiger, the foursomes is the time to do it, especially when his preferred partner just looked out of gas on the back 9 of the afternoon. I'd have sent Woods out with a different partner, but I don't mind this either. One pairing who roasted their opponents in fourballs yesterday, one who won both matches yesterday, one who won their foursome yesterday, and Furyk and Snedeker seemed to be fine as a alternate shot pair. Euros probably need to gain at least a point in the foursomes (the Americans seem to suck at this format most), should be interesting. I think DL3 had certain pairings in mind and is sticking with them (don't blame him either, it's not like anyone got truly smoked yesterday and looked out of sync with each other as fair as a pairing)
