Pretty cool little vignette.

Some of those in the series are awesome (Brian Regan, Alec Baldwin) ... the other's are painful...

Yeah, that's cool and all, but I don't think there's any coming back from that meltdown.

"We're just raindrops on a windshield, Michael."

That's kinda how I always figured Seinfeld would be when it pertained to fame.

Nice interview and nice to hear Kramer address the issue so bluntly, he does seem genuinely remorseful/disgusted at himself. Some poignant bits in there, like when he thanks Jerry for sticking by him.

Suh... suh... SEVEN years ago???

That outburst was SEVEN years ago?? I thought it was like.... 3 tops.

--

Just checked TMZ, and it was 2006, so 6 years. But still... six years. Damn.

He's not racist, he was just trying to out-shock them. Ffs, I wish society would get it through their thick skulls, and we could see him stop pretending to be so down about it.

To me,MR is one of those performers who play iconic comedic characters, but are not intrinsically funny. Chevy Chase comes to mind also. Getting onstage at a comedy club was a HORRIFICALLY bad idea and it blew up in his face.

Glad they're getting back together but I have to admit I wasn't expecting them to take it so far.

I dig Michael Richards, but he comes off as trying way to hard to be overly philosophical.

2012-09-28 03:28:17 PM
This has been a great online series - I've watched every episode.

Also, if I was MR, I would spend my days swimming in my money like Scrooge McDuck. Screw seedy comedy clubs and hecklers.

2012-09-28 03:35:16 PM
That was sweet subby, and if anyone wants to see a crackle free version (did it have commercials?) it's available Link.

Um, tmi, the part where Jerry says "it's up to you to decide when to put the baggage down", maybe trite, but affected me.

What he said. He tried to be an outrageous standup comic and it didn't work out so well. He's been punished enough. I want the funnyman back--liked him since "Fridays" when I was a little kid.

Well...he's probably a little racist, but seriously I don't know many people who can honestly say they aren't racist at all.

I'm guessing his still living in LA is not good for Michael on a personal level. He's great at physical comedy. He's just a good actor who ruined his success by saying something very stupid in a public forum. He already did all the PR he could do, if I were in his shoes and wanted to get back in the entertainment game, I'd do some producing or write and direct something. My guess is he doesn't have to do anything for the rest of his life and would be fine, it'd be nice to see him get back into life a bit, do some good and just get over his public humiliation. People have done far worse than say something racist and gotten on with their lives.

2012-09-28 04:02:45 PM
I more or less assumed from the start that he let the guy in the audience get under his skin, and he reflexively went for the most offensive, hurtful response he could.

You don't have to be racist to know how to go for the jugular.

Doesn't matter, though, I'm not his target audience so my understanding and lack of rage at his actions doesn't help him out.

I forgave him a long time ago (as if it's my place to do so). His apology on Letterman was bizarre, but you can tell he was in a lot of pain and was genuinely sorry.

I'm not even sure he's all that racist.  He seemed sincere in his apology, and I believe (while horribly wrong) he was merely trying to find the worst word possible to inflict on the heckler.

I think he's done his time so to speak.

It's not about me, it's about them. Now that's a lesson I learned seven years when I blew it in the comedy club, lost my temper because someone interrupted my act and said some things that hurt me and I lashed out in anger," Michael Richards tells Seinfeld in the latest episode of Jerry's Comedians in Cars web series. "I busted up after that event seven years ago - it broke me down. It was a selfish response, I took it too personally and I should have just said, 'Yeah, you're absolutely right, I'm not funny, I think I'll go home and work on my material and I'll see you tomorrow night,' and split."

This is a good series. JS comes across as great listener and conversationalist, very sharp. In the ones with Michael Richards and Brian Regan it's very clear that these guys are actual friends and they have a long history together and a lot of affection for each other.

i have this suspicion that the combination of the internets and camera phones with video recording is going to make the whole world a little more guarded and less interesting.

/ being racist is not interesting. I just mean that the freedom to be a dumbass in secret is starting to be limited. I think some should invite a white light generator that destroys video taking capacity or something. put it in all the bars I go to.. especially those where I try to dance

I like the whole CCC series. Not every episode was outstanding, but I really liked the concept. As far as Michael Richards goes, obviously he and Jerry have great chemistry. I don't think I'd be much of a fan of MR by himself, kind of like Jason Alexander.
He seems genuinely broken by what he did, and is still living under that rock. Not for me to determine if he's paid enough of a price for being an idiot. That's really up to his conscience. We've all done stupid things in life... some stupider than others.

What did he have to cash in on?

Do people not understand that Michael Richards made a metric FARKLOAD of money off Seinfeld and still continues to make money from the re-runs?

Nobody from Seinfeld or Friends has to work another day in their lives as long as the money was properly invested.

OK, you do realize the act that Richards wasn't doing wasn't funny, and he got called out for being unfunny, NOT for being racist.

It was Richards' reaction to the initial heckling - THAT'S what was racist.
