This text is now purple: Christian Bale: Ronnie Tiajuana: pute kisses like a man: someday the internet people are going to realize that gene masseth is not funny. you have to be a slack jawed, spit drooling yokel just to pronounce the stupid name in a manner that could remotely be considered a joke before pre-schoolers.

(insert thatsthejoke.jpg here)

In the snow article shown above, Gene Masseth is one of the guys shoveling. (presumably his real name)
The story indicates the second man was named "Heywood Jablome" (a fake name).

A fark meme has sprung up around people laughing at the name "Gene Masseth", which wasn't the joke name. This is supposedly clever for ironic reasons or some such, but has mostly become tiresome.

Irony fail.

People didn't laugh at the name, but all of the continual attempts of others to understand it. Thing is, until you realized there wasn't something to understand, you didn't get the joke (that there was no joke).

Cornell's taking quite a tough stance on alcohol use for a school whose fight song is about getting kicked out of school for binge drinking:

Give my regards to Davy,
Remember me to Tee Fee Crane.
Tell all the pikers on the Hill
That I'll be back again.
Tell them just how I busted
Lapping up the high highball.
We'll all have drinks at Theodore Zinck's
When I get back next fall!

Since when has the NY Times had a shred of journalistic integrity in the last 30 years?
