Fark off. I love Mumford and Sons.

I don't actively seek them out, but I don't mind when they come on the radio. I'd say the "Coldplay with banjos" comparison is apt, since that's how I feel about Coldplay as well.

DrowningLessons: Ugh, this kind of thread again. Can't people just like music? Why do we have to place judgement on people for musical tastes that in no way effect us? I like M&S. I like Dave Matthews. And I probably like the music that YOU like, person who is judging me for liking those two bands.

I'm with you on all of that...except the liking Dave Matthews part. ; )

No mention of Of Monsters & Men yet? I'm a little surprised.

/Check them out.

When did Tim Tebow find the time to start a band and marry Shia LeBeuf's sloppy seconds?

Which tracks should I give a listen first?

I listened to the whole thing during a long run, and pretty much enjoyed all of it. Some tracks are more solid, but it hung together very well as an album.

Cool. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Thoguh: Having a group of actually talented musicians being hugely successful seems like a good thing to me.

Banjo possession should be a capital crime.

Vests, greasy hair, mandolins, "clever" swearing, ironically bland band name. Fark off, hipsters.

busy chillin':
and if you are getting into this kind of music only via the radio and finding new music doesn't scare you ; )
check out Old Crow Medicine Show, Split Lip Rayfield, The Devil Makes Three and older Yonder Mountain String Band...maybe you will like them too.

I just discovered Split Lip on a long drive home from Anchorage last week. Love all the free Yonder on archive.org

Is that the one with the twee chick and the guy who sounds like a twee chick?

I hate to judge a band by their followers, but.... they and childish gambino tend to get the uberdouches in their flock.

Listening to it right now. Took a bit for me to get into it, but it is enjoyable nonetheless.

CygnusDarius: oldfarthenry: Yup - there's nothing like a suicide note performed to Celtic music!

If I'm going to listen Celtic music with anything, I might as well listen Eluveitie.

I kept hoping the little girl would kill the bird and eat it raw. Oh well.

I love the new Mumford & Sons album, love the new Avett Brothers -- being popular is a good thing until they "sell out"

Tad_Waxpole: Which one is Mumford again?

He's standing between Pink and Floyd.

I listened to about half a song from Sigh No More on Spotify before I switched over to Waterboys.

Seriously, how does a band like Mumford & Sons exist in a world that already has the Waterboys in it?

2012-09-27 09:10:09 PM
...Although, technically, I guess this world no longer has the Waterboys in it.

But Mike Scott is still around, farting better music than M & S.

Is it just me, or does their song "I Will Wait" remind anyone else of John Hartford's "Don't Leave Your Records in the Sun"?

busy chillin': oh and the Punch Brothers and/or Chris Thile with Michael Daves...super good IMO.

What the hell does Dave Matthews have to do with it? They're not similar at all.

/DM does nothing for me.

I just bought the album "With Us" by The Burning of Rome yesterday, and I've listened to it 3 times so far. I feel less out of touch with the youth of today now that I have recently produced music.

Nope, one of the other ones

One of my favorite bands! Only 2 or 3 people I know had ever heard of them. Glad they're getting more press for the second album.

2012-09-28 06:55:41 AM
Seem to be talented, but I can't enjoy the singer's voice and style, as well as how overplayed they are. Not their fault, but that shiat ruins it for me.

They get huge airplay here in Toronto. You can't turn on the most popular rock station on the ride home and not hear their new single.

Really? Rock station? What I've heard of them hardly seems much like rock. Maybe easy listening, or soft rock at most.

I wish I knew what was hip to listen to.
