Maybe the debates will help.

This is yet more reason they need to stop campaigning all year every year.

Wha?

The NRA needs serious reform.

Unless something has gone more pear-shaped than I previously thought, you're conflating a few different stories. Yes, Tennessee has explicitly stated college ID isn't proof enough for voting, but it's Texas where a concealed-carry permit (not an NRA card issued by a private entity) is an acceptable form of ID--though that law was tossed out by the courts.

This ad will work on the apathetic liberal voter or a swing voter that is in the position described in the ad but won't wake up the GOP base. Nothing will wake up the GOP base to reality.

If only someone would have raised the concern that Democrats would disillusion their base and have trouble motivating people to go back to the polls in 2012 early enough for it to have mattered.

I just got to the part with the grandparents and I can't stop laughing. This is the best pastiche of Goodnight Moon I've ever seen. "Ask the fact checkers! Those guy are fact-duckers!" "What should we do?" "Say hell no mother f*ckers?!"

NRA keeps pissing me off. I always liked guns and have always owned them since a kid. But just a few years ago joined the NRA as I got back into the hobby of target shooting and thinking about crime in the neighborhood.

I nonchalantly agreed to become an NRA member a while back, thinking sure, they protect gun rights, why not. But no, they are farking insane partisan hacks, that merely use fear of taking gun rights away as a tool to shill for the GOP. The past few issues of Rifleman have made me sick.

Maybe that is what they do in Kenya.

I may have... Believe you're correct. But the point about students stands. I read another story where students who failed to put their dorm room number on their application are being purged in a few states. On the mobile waiting on a meeting or I'd research it more. Mea culpa.

WAKE THE FARK UP! It's a call to get out and vote, to not become complacent and completely disallusioned by the current election process, and is for re-electing President Obama. Paid for by a Jewish voters' group, not the DNC or Obama campaign.

It's funny and crude at the same time...a little like South Park.

Well if Obama does take it in November then I'm going to expect my gas and mortgage to be paid, after all he is going to save the economy and heal the planet just like he said he would in '08..but this time for real.

Oh and I'm still waiting on my Unicorn.

It also addresses the "all politicians are the same", which was, for me, the most awesome part. That's where apathy truly resides. It's the Karl Rove wet dream. We all know "both sides are the same, so vote Republican", but they're just as happy with "both sides are the same, so don't bother to vote."

I love all of these pro-Obaba links making it to the politics page...

but come on mod-mins, green some shiat that Obama has really done, like break promises made during his last campaign. Like continuing the Patriot Act when he vowed to get rid of it.

He kept a remarkably large number of his campaign promises. More so than Presidents normally do.

...and he did not make a campaign promise to get rid of the patriot act. His actual campaign promise was to revisit the patriot act, which he did but had to compromise with Republicans to get some of what he wanted changed.

So... wake the fark up.

Got a link to this law? I think I heard something about this, or one similar. Is there another one where the NRA card is being accepted?

So they should greenlight whatthef*ckhasobamadonesofar.com?

/Not saying that Obama hasn't done some shiatty stuff, but pretty much only retards and the GOP (but I repeat myself) can suggest that his administration hasn't managed to accomplish more good things than bad since being elected, all while facing the the most openly obstructionist opposition party in recent history.

ddam: This ad will work on the apathetic liberal voter or a swing voter that is in the position described in the ad but won't wake up the GOP base. Nothing will wake up the GOP base to reality.

If you notice, it's not aimed at the GOP base. It's target demographic are the apathetic people who think that they're going to skip voting because either a) Nobody could make things worse, b) 'All politicians are the same', c) Obama's going to win, no matter what, or d) What does itr matter? My vote won't cont.

I think it'l work for its target demographic. The GOP base is completely hopeless right now. Nothing will "change" them, and it's not entirely their fault. Read The Republican Brain by Chris Mooney for more on this. Very interesting book.

I think the message is to get people to get the fark out and show some initiative. Sitting on our asses collectively won't ensure that the evil Rmoney bot is defeated.

Biggest mistake you've ever made, most likely. I like my gun rights as well, but I'll never join that association of freaks. It's like PETA. Sure, I don't want hairspray flooded into bunnies' eyes, but they are nothing but attention whores. NRA, same way. I won't even join to get free access to the gun show when it comes to town.

Also, here's another way to look at it: I had a buddy who was a total survivalist type, his father even more so, and his father's buddy such a whacko that when me and my friend went to visit, my friend had to lead me through the property so that I didn't accidentally set off a booby trap. Anyway, none of those 3 would ever join the NRA because they didn't want to be on a 'list' anywhere, including just being associated with the group, there was no upside and a ton of downsides, and these 3 were the most pro-gun people I have ever met.
