PacManDreaming: bemis23: You are defective. See a doctor.

Maybe. I love artificial banana, blueberry and strawberry flavors, but I can't stand the real fruits. They just taste like crap.

PacManDreaming: Mayhem of the Black Underclass: Proper way to peel a banana

The only proper way to peel a banana is to break it off from the bunch, open the trash can and throw it in. Bananas taste like crap...unless you roll them around in sugar or put them in your corn flakes(that've also been heaped with sugar).

My guess is they had a bunch of bananas with browning skin that customers wouldn't buy so they removed the ugly skin and still tried to make a buck off of them. The bananas in that package look ugly and some have had the tops and bottoms lopped off, perhaps where there was already bruising.

I suspect meat departments do the same thing which is why I never buy the pre-seasoned meats from a supermarket.

A typical one said that selling ready-peeled bananas in a plastic package was the ultimate symbol of waste and the throw-away society.

Really? How about K-Cups? A one-shot coffee container made of plastic. That is the ultimate symbol of waste and the throw-away society.

I clicked on the link, ready to laugh at the frightened consumers, but I'm on their side. There's no advantage to pre-peeled bananas in such small quantities. They've ruptured an air-tight seal, thus making them spoil faster (unless they treated them, as AbbeySomeone suggests), and they put them in plastic, which doesn't biodegrade and will make the bananas taste worse.
