xaks: Look at that replay...Cribbs INSTANTLY went limp. He was out, either completely or close enough.

His night is done, regardless of what he tells the trainers.

They don't have independent concussion experts, so if the Cleveland coaching staff wants him on the field, and he can keep himself upright while on camera, he'll be out there

netweavr: KingsleyZisou: netweavr: Doesn't matter if he fumbled. It's a dead play.

It matters as to when he fumbled. Did he fumble before the helmet came off blowing it did?

Refs say he did.

He was the last one to touch it when the play died. You cannot recover a fumble after the play dies. Think about the reasoning here, they want to prevent people getting cleats to the face after the fumble.

No, wait, never mind. From what I can find on the rules, the play only dies when the ball carrier loses his helmet. If he fumbled, he wasn't the ball carrier, ergo play stays alive.

Reset the "non-potato ref mistake" timer.

MBTAhole: It would be funny if Cribbs had a 180 IQ now and started solving all sorts of equations on the sideline...like why the browns suck

If that was the case, they should fire Brad Childress and give the job to Cribbs. Hell, they could do that anyway.

2012-09-27 09:03:43 PM

DoBeDoBeDo: netweavr: If you give the Ravens the ball, then you're telling players to keep going after a helmet goes off.

Bad call.

No it only applies when the "runner's" helmet comes off. Once he fumbles he's no longer "the runner". If he fumbles before the helmet comes off play continues.

Now there's an interesting argument.

2012-09-27 09:03:49 PM
No Baltimore, you do NOT get six points for killing a Brown!

Ah I see your line of reasoning here.

/bad call real refs! gawd

I think that's like in the other lesser football, where they give possession back when an injury resulted in the original turnover.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Wait, wait...the receiver was near the linebacker, isn't that a simultaneous possession and a touchdown now?

Lost Thought 00: so if the Cleveland coaching staff wants him on the field, and he can keep himself upright while on camera, he'll be out there

I suspect the medical staff might have a problem with that.

Josh Cribbs just asked if anybody's excited for the Packers/Seahawks game

Good call by the refs on the fumble. Good to see everyone's well versed on the Rulebook...

a few decent blocks on that play

Don't give the fans ideas. You'll set off a rash of copycat concussions.

WE JUST WANT TO FORGET.

Normally when people bowl into Ray Lewis, they wind up in the morgue.

2012-09-27 09:06:00 PM
You know what, let's all stop questioning the refs. The real ones are back. Let them do their jobs.

2012-09-27 09:06:04 PM
Cribbs shouldn't come back. Loss of consciousness is a medical-DQ isn't it?

2012-09-27 09:06:07 PM
umm why do the browns look impressive?

They do it's just where they are located is the issue. The NFLPA wants them on the sidelines to keep coaches from telling players to go in. The NFL wants them upstairs and they go down to the locker rooms when a player goes back. Cribbs went back, he'll be in a dark room relaxing the rest of the evening.

Pick13: the rain and thunder is coming!

Oh yes, that will make this game awesome. How far away is it?

THIS medical staff might give him a staph infection trying to xray their own player.

Happened before, more than once...

This is Cleveland you're talking about, where they have routine staph infections break out in their locker room.

I hope no one is giving Flacco any...flak for that.

/i see what i did there

Playing for the browns can make anyone look mediocre.

To anyone with medical training it is, regardless of what the rules actually say.

That's not an argument that's the rule. The helmet off ONLY applies to the runner. If a lineman's helmet comes off play doesn't stop. It only applies when the guy holding the ball loses his helmet.
