Pretty sure that by the second quarter we will all hate these blind refs again.

Oh come on. Cleveland has a legitimate chance to win up to 3 games this year.

Nah, because it's Ravens/Browns, so no one cares.

Looking at their schedule & performance so far, I'm thinking any scenario getting Cleveland to 3 wins would require multiple team plane crashes.

I could see them beating KC and Indy without suspending disbelief TOO much. And possibly WSH or Oakland. And division games are something of a tossup, even when the Browns are involved.

There's enough variability in each game that even the worst teams can get things to bounce their way 1-3 times a year. Look at the Colts last year.

If I can be honest, what Browns fans probably should be pulling for is an 0-16 season, followed by trading the #1 overall pick for a slew of other high draft picks to whatever team is the most desperate for whomever the "can't miss" future-HOF-quarterback is next spring. But, if I'm being honest then I have to admit that most Browns fans would recognize that the team would likely keep that pick and use it on a one-legged punter.

/And not one of those cool, runs-around-on-a-high-tech-blade kind of one-legged punters, either.

Naw, the Browns a few more chances: Indy, Miami, and the entire AFC West. And possibly Cincy at home.

They don't play Miami, so I'll agree that Cleveland's chances of losing that one diminish somewhat. ;p

This morning an Eagles fan told me that the only reason my Cards won Sunday was because of the refs.

Seriously. He said they lost 27-6 because of the refs.

Hopefully now people will see us win because we actually deserved to win.

Well, except for the Pats game, where we got an assist from the Troll gods.

I can get away with watching a bad game tonight; my partner's too occupied with Pandaria.

Quoth the Raven: Cleveland will Never Score.

FYI, our (Baltimore's) defense this season: 28th vs. the pass, 18th vs. the run, 27th overall, and 15th in points allowed. We'll win, but if I were a betting man I'd take the over (44).

Well yeah, 31 other teams are better than the Browns. But I'll be shocked if the Ravens pull a shutout. Pleasantly shocked, but shocked nonetheless.

Eagles are better by 1 point, and the Bengals by 7. I would say the over's still a good bet.

As a Saints' fan I'd resigned myself to watching the games this seasons just for the lulz.

Now I don't even have that.

Traded Newton & Torrey Smith for RG3 & AJ Green.
Have Trent Richardson & Pitta. Thinking of maybe playing Richardson (also starting Leshoure & Morris. Have F. Jackson, Andre brown, & Turner on bench). At TE I also have Gates & M. bennett. Any reason to go with Pitta over those to or any of the other backs over Richardson?

2012-09-27 06:45:55 PM

After going 10-6* last week, I'm sitting at 29-18 for the season. But, much like every team in the league that's not either the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, or Atlanta Falcons, all my excuses just went the way of the replacement refs. Kicking things off with Cleveland at Baltimore should help get things off on the right track towards a 12-4 week, at the least.

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens:
Aside from the fact that I am indeed a Ravens fan, let's look at the rationale for this pick: Baltimore has not lost at home since week 13 of the 2010 season. Cleveland has not won on the road since week 2 of the 2011 season. The Ravens are a near-unanimous Super Bowl contender. The Browns are near-unanimous as the worst team in the league. Joe Flacco & Co. are 3rd in the league in passing...the Browns' defense is 27th against the pass. And of course Baltimore has won the last 8 times these two teams have faced off. A suddenly suspect Ravens' defense prevents a complete blowout, but the Ravens still win, and win big: Baltimore 38, Cleveland 20

Oh, and...

Any reason to go with Pitta over those to or any of the other backs over Richardson?

I'd start Gates over Pitta. He's their number one passing target. I'd start Turner over Morris. I don't trust Shanahan.

Ya, but Helu is out and Morris is a good Flex option especially with RG3. Gates hasn't done anything this year so I can't really consider him over bennett or Pitta who have both been scoring and getting 10+ pts a week. I guess the only real debate is Richardson or Turner. The only problem with Turner is that ATL has been throwing all game.

Any chance that Weeden doesn't lock down the Jake tonight? It's a Thursday so we're assured one team will play poorly, I think the Jake has already had 2 Thursday winners, the browns are awful any day of the week, Weeden is the qb equivilant of a replacement official.

Last two have been bell-to-bell Thursday winners, yeah. And Weeden IS always a threat to win, lol. Which reminds me!

Couple things I don't like about the Ravens tonight.

-Avg a game every 4.5 days over past 18 days.
-big emotional game by Smith that was half in part to how bad McCourty is & how bad refs were
-seems like a good time for a weird upset

Verdict: not betting this game

2012-09-27 07:05:50 PM
Ravens might lose if they don't continue to get bullshiat penalties called turning every 2nd and long and 3rd and long to a 1st down.

I just have the under, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Browns keep it within 10. Got -13.5 from an opening line in my pool, but seeing shops with -11 now. Still wouldn't put any money on a sports team from Cleveland.

I hope the refs call holding on every other play (not hard when Oher is on the field) just to warm up for the rest of the season.

Other than a possible adjustment period now that the regular refs are back, I'm curious what made you think under on this one? The way the two teams have been playing Baltimore might break 44 on their own.
