Is this pedantry? Because even forced compassion is compassion, just not altruistic compassion (which is what people assume). What else would you call it when, at the end of the day, the people who need help have gotten it?

Maimonedes wrote a pretty good summation of the levels of charity, which highlights some of the ways people give help. People who give conspicuously are not as "charitable" as people who provide jobs anonymously, according to Maimo's ranking, but still charitable.

I understand compassion to mean carrying someone else's burden. Suffering alongside someone. Not placing someone's burden on someone else.

He said the uninsured should just go to the ER because they can't be denied service......which is one of the key causes to rising health care cost to begin with.
