Seahawks won a game, so they had to do something! :)

SilentStrider: Good.
Bit too late for Packers fans though.

And Saints fans. And [insert your team]. Tons of sh*t went down that no one saw, but the GB/SEA debacle was on national TV.

Fade2black: Hey, I watched the game, thought it wasn't a reception...then tonight some local channel 13 news had the other angle from the goalposts...it clearly shows tate having more of it than I thought he would. Haters gonna hate.

Last I checked you have to maintain possession of the ball through making contact with the ground in order to have completed the catch, simultaneous posession or not. Tate clearly lost the ball on the ground. Ergo Packers ball.

/Doesn't matter, Packers lost either way
//Doesn't matter, there was OPI either way as well

Bah, much less randomness now. Here's hoping the pro refs allow a better flow to the game, I guess.

2012-09-27 12:55:51 AM
Why don't the morans in here claiming the regular refs are just as bad provide us with some evidence of them giving teams extra timeouts, walking off the wrong amount of yards after penalties, calling teams by the wrong name, allowing players to have a skirmish after every single game, and running around with bewildered looks on their faces like they thought the had signed up to be futbol refs and they can't understand why the ball is oblong and brown.

Go ahead, we'll be waiting.

It would be AWESOME if the real refs got a simultaneous catch ruling wrong this week.

Finally, quality refs like Pete Morelli and Bill Leavy will be back to work.

NewWorldDan: This should be fun. I can't wait to see how many cockups happen in week 4. Hopefully that will validate my claim that the scabs aren't that different from the traditional jackasses.

I've actually enjoyed the last few weeks. The replacements have generally let the defensive backs go out and do their job for a change. And there really haven't been that many mistakes, but they've been entertaining mistakes. Yes, I do enjoy watching slow speed train wrecks, why do you ask?

I agree man, I have had more fun watching the NFL than I can ever remember. Its been constant lol fest and im sad the scab refs are gone.

Lets see what FARK's football fans thought of the tested and proven best, hand picked, fairest dream team crew of officials that the NFL could assemble during the Superbowl this lasr February.

Publikwerks: If the pats lose by two, I'm literally going to murder the ref.
John Buck 41: At least we know early on the farking officials are on the Giants payroll. Good to know.
Pastorof Muppets Apparently, Referee John Parry's father, David, a longtime official, passed in 2011. In homage John Parry's beanbag contains his father's cremains

ljdjr34The ball wiggled on impact. How much do the refs want it?

There's a distinction that needs making in this thread.

I'm a Seahawks fan. Part of me was jumping up and down on that last play cheering. I'm glad we got the win and think maybe we earned part of it with our first half D.

But the realistic side knows that Tate didn't catch that ball and he only got close because he shoved a dude to the ground in order to get into position. There will be more calls like this once the real refs are back. I'm not sure they would have made the right call on the field either, and since it can't be challenged, I'm not so sure that the outcome would have been any different.

But two weeks prior, when the Hawks played the Cardinals, Seattle was granted a fourth timeout after their third had expired due to an injury. Ken Whisenhunt went (rightfully so) apeshiat and their was a 5 minute delay, followed by a replay (for some reason) followed by a penalty, followed by the refs congregating to mark off the yardage and place the ball. All in all the game was delayed for nearly 15 minutes despite their only being 20-some seconds on the clock.

There will be blown calls once the officials return. Controversy will never fully remove itself from the NFL as long as zebras continue to make the calls. What there wont be are embarrassing delays and petty mistakes like where to spot the ball. I can live with and forgive the former, but not the latter.

Eh, keep it on file. The real refs are still blind (and, in some cases, ripped). The scabs were just blind and legally retarded.

I wonder how much of this had to do with the Packers/Seahawks and how much of this had to do with games continuously running long and likely pissing off a bunch of Network Execs.

As a Cardinals fan (and thus, a Seahawks hater since we're division rivals and all), you make a point that was vastly overlooked because of the massive fark up at the end of the game: The Seahawks were the better team Monday. They sacked Rodgers 8 times! And most of that with just a 4-man rush. The Packers O-Line was a sieve and that's being polite. The Eagles O-Line was saying they sucked (after Philly let Vick get sacked 5 times and hit 20 at Arizona the day before). But the Seahawks weren't has good in the 2nd half and let the Packers get back in it. If Seattle had just made a couple more plays offensively in the 2nd half, the TD that wasn't never happens.

The Seahawks deserved to win that game Monday. They just didn't deserve winning it that way.

2012-09-27 03:13:21 AM
I wonder what the nature of communications was among the several owners that led up to this magical "agreement."
Something along the lines of "We are one fan riot away from a broke-down season," perhaps?
That, or I'd like to have seen something serious or absurd be unflagged, then all the players from both teams just stand at attention on the field in a game-time work stoppage.

desertgeek: The Seahawks deserved to win that game Monday. They just didn't deserve winning it that way.

Also, the Seahawks DEFINITELY deserved to be on the RIGHT side of shiatty calls for once in their existence. I'm a 49ers fan, and I hate the Seahawks, but the things that have happened to that franchise are farked up. The calls in the Super Bowl where the referee ADMITTED afterwards that he farked up stick straight out.

People wonder why Seahawks fans are being "classless" by saying "we will take that farking win and any others presented through farked up officiating" need to take a step back and look at that teams history. I'd love the Seahawks to be 1-2 right now, less of a path for the 49ers to get to the Super Bowl, but the fans deserved that win. It was "close enough" in real time for officials to be good enough to give it to them.

Also, had this been the Browns, Bills, Seahawks, Jaguars, etc who had gotten the interception against the Cowboys, Steelers, Patriots, Giants, PACKERS, then the media would have said "close enough to give it to them, can't overturn it". Since it was the media darlings they went with the outrage angle.

That was good! You should also posts peoples comments about the 13 minute delay while the refs figured out a ball spot... or that penalty they marked off 2 yards wrong... or some posts about the 4th time out the Pats got at the end of the game.
