basemetal: Finally. I wonder, now that the regular refs will be back, how many penalties will be called due to some bad habits picked up under the scab officiating.

/it'll still be hard to be a Raiders fan.

You don't have to be a Raider fan. There is help out there.

WHOOOOHOOOO! As long as they won't be back till Sunday there's still some chance they can gift a win for the Browns over the Ravens...

The Onion Sports nailed it with their Fan on the Street thing today, about Belichick getting fined for grabbing an official's arm:
"That's strange. I thought grabbing somebody else's arm awarded you a touchdown."

4NSpy: The best conspiracy theory to come out of all this? With the scab refs the Raiders are the least penalized team, so someone put it together that the normal refs have it out for the Raiders and call extra penalties on them.

The obvious reason is that Oakland, their roster being filled with miscreants and ne'er-do-wells, has gotten so much practice at hiding their holds and cheap shots from the real refs that these replacements are never going to see them.

Which replacements are doing Thursday's game?

Any chance I can contact one of them to find out if the Ravens will cover?

Even I can see this is not a simultaneous catch. The cost of the old RESPECTED refs coming back is a Packer loss.

If the receiver catches the safety while he's still in the air intercepting the ball, that counts as a simultaneous catch.

Tiberius Gracchus: The fact that the pension/401k issue is unresolved I'm more than a little skeptical.

Though what is with this notion of having to get new uniforms? I understand that there was a change from Nike to Reebok (or vice versa) but would that process really delay their return by an extra week?

I don't doubt that the new sponsor would throw a fit over not having their products worn...but to the extent that they couldn't send roughly fitting uniforms (S-M-L-XL) and if necessary rig/tailor them on-site to get through the first game?

The engineers aren't through with the Hochuli blueprints.

182: maybe the sports writers can tone down the hyperbole, now.

Hyperbole is what they bring every week. For the last 2 days the situation matched the hyperbole, turning it into level headed reporting.

So how long before we can start complaining about the regular refs? I could see a week or two grace period since we're all so happy they are back.

After that though, back to bitter raging about how bad they suck, how they cost my team the game, and how they always favor the (team that isn't the one I cheer for).

From other articles, they probably can't make it onto the field for week 4, because they need to get completely new uniforms, get fitness tests and other stuff that they can't possibly do in 5 days.

Golden Tate saves the season. He runs, he hits, he catches (sometimes) and now he's negotiating new labor contracts. This guy is unstoppable.
