MrBallou: give me doughnuts: MrBallou: Shostie: WorldCitizen: Nabb1: gilgigamesh: WorldCitizen: Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

BANHAMMER!! BANHAMM-...

Ooo. That sounds delicious. Say, do you cut back on the milk if you add blueberries to the mix?

Buttermilk, or GTFO. That's just the way it is.

Actually, I prefer cornmeal pancakes uber alles.

I, for one, think there's a place for all pancakes at the table.

[i50.tinypic.com image 200x68]

Pumpkin pancakes with apple-butter on them.

Either blueberry, or plain with enough butter and maple syrup to float them.

Here's what you do; you go to IHOP and you use the butter pecan syrup (if they still have it).

That sh*t's like breakfast ambrosia.

I have reported the people who like blueberry pancakes to the local Walmart management as instructed by the DHS.

There, now Weaver has his government involvement...and the blueberry pancak lovers will go to GITMO, and we shall all remain blissfully unaware of the irony here.

no, actually I'd use the whole thing in an advertising campaign.

it's wrong to judge a tenant based on their politics, in fact I think there are anti-discrimination laws that might even come in to play.

The real estate analogy isn't good since renters have signed a lease making it more difficult to toss people out. However, when you sign up to post on a website you agree to their terms and if they find something you post to be offensive they can toss you.  You agreed to it already.

Not all renters are leasees. There are At Will renters as well.

Very few renters have agreed to an "I can toss you any time I want" clause, almost all internet posters have.

All renters are lessees. If you are renting by the month with a handshake agreement, you have an oral month by month lease.

I'm pretty sure you legally cannot evict people because they are racists, though I am sure you could find other legitimate violations to have them removed. Simply holding those beliefs, or having racist friends, or printing racist documents, whatever whatever on the premises isn't enough plain and simple to get them out of the building.

Actually, you bring up a non-trolling point.  Perhaps we should be thinking of the children here...and the religious nutballs acting like children.  Okay, Islam, if you can't act like a religion of 1400 years, then you can't sit at the big table with the adults at Thanks...er..Ramadan.

vpb: There already are limits.

Under current interpretation, the video in question would not be considered an incitement to violence.

Consider this: "VPB told me to riot, so I rioted" . In this case, the government can suppress VPB's speech without infringing on his first amendment rights.

as opposed to: "I got mad at what VPB said, so I rioted". In this case, VPB did not incite the violence; it is the exclusive responsibility of the rioter.

Each country has a right to determine its own levels of freedom. Ban material in countries where it's illegal and allow it in countries where it's legal. If a private company operates in a country, it must abide by that country's rules.

I'm not seeing why this is even an issue, but I also don't understand how an offensive, shiatty movie can incite violence. These people need to learn how to complain about things on the internet. Is there a muslim version of rottentomatoes? nastyfelafel, maybe?

2012-09-26 03:14:53 PM
First amendment defines protections of the individual from the state.

If YouTube wants to hire a bunch of Muslims to sit in a room and preview videos for objectionable content, that's fine with me.

As long as they sell tickets.

2012-09-26 03:16:08 PM
Islam is not of Bronze Age vintage, but its based on a mindset that goes way back into the Paleolithic. Monotheism is usually dated to the early Iron Age.

It's really tough to criticize. On the one hand, the protesting Muslims are incredibly farking stupid for thinking one dumbass who posted a YouTube video represents all of the US and western culture. On the other hand, the US did invade two countries and many in our population protested all Muslims because of one Muslim dumbass named Osama.

mrshowrules: If every day someone in the world posted something different but equally rude towards a particular religion, you would never have a reason to suddenly become overwhelmingly outraged.

In India, they had massive riots at a cinema because the couple kissed at the end. If every movie had a kiss, you would never have a riot because of a kiss.

I think industrialized countries should double-down and have something equally outrageous released every day. Last thing you want to do is let the next moment of outrage build-up and explode.

But where does it stop? At goatse?

If hate speech is outlawed, only outlaws will use hate speech.

I'm being facetious there, but what I believe we've learned from European countries, where free speech protections are less absolute, is that if you ban hate speech it won't do a damn thing to eliminate hate groups from spreading, and if anything it will just make them seem more exciting, taboo and, yes, outlaw-ish, with a veneer of victimhood to boot.

2012-09-26 03:27:27 PM
The First Amendment earned its sacred status only in the 1960s, and then only among liberals and the left, who cheered when the courts ruled that government could not suppress the speech of dissenters, critics, scandalous artistic types, and even pornographers.

This is complete bullshiat. It's simply not true.

"Even pornographers" is telling.

2012-09-26 03:27:38 PM

RedPhoenix122: Snarcoleptic_Hoosier: I'd say the US undervalues freedom of speech since we've got tards willing to give it up.

As well as others abusing it, knowing full well the dangers it poses. It's one thing to say something that will get you killed. It's quite another to say something that will get others killed. I don't believe in censorship, but I do believe in personal responsibility. With any right comes the responsibility to use it for good, not for harm, otherwise you risk losing that right you fought so hard for in the first place.

If the video said "go kill the ambassador" you'd have a point. What you're actually advocating here is yielding to terrorists. Even if someone had said in advance that they'd kill the ambassador if this video came out, it still wouldn't be the fault of the video makers that people got killed. That blame rests solely on the savages that are murdering people who happen to be from the same country as someone who said something they didn't like.

Pretty much nothing is more important than freedom of speech. Especially when you consider that what it really means, in practice, is "freedom of thought". If people are going to get violent based on what somebody SAID, well, that's their problem, and that's the price.

One odd thing is that much of the world considers "dignity" to be a right and something that can be taken away by the actions of others. Americans consider "dignity" to be an internal quality and something that each individual needs to deal with for themselves.
