(Breitbart.com)   "Dirty Jobs" star Mike Rowe officially endorses Mitt Romney, because if there's one candidate who understands the value of rolling up their sleeves and doing hard work, it's a guy who inherited all his money and owns ballerina horses   (breitbart.com) divider line 179

GAT_00: Coco LaFemme: When did we as a nation begin to give a shiat what minor TV celebrities thought about politics and politicians?

When that first CBS executive that somehow nobody has gone back in time and killed greenlit the first Survivor and started all this reality show shiat.

No, reality TV predates that. We have MTv and The Real World to thank.

Who's the Cash Cab guy endorsing?

MaudlinMutantMollusk:
Heh... yeah, we're not exactly a swing state

/which is nice

Eh, you're in good company this election. There aren't going to be a lot of swing states going into November, looks like, unless Romney somehow becomes even worse and pushes some GOP strongholds like Texas into limbo. And even then it's be a "swing" between a 270 win and a completely blue map, not a swing between two possible winners.

The best part is that neither Presidential candidate is carpet bombing us with advertising

/must suck to be in Ohio now

Citrate1007: Who is predominantly on his show?

1) White
2) Working Class
3) Low educational attainment
4) Only jobs they can get are ones no one wants to do

Methinks he may just be pandering to his audience.

There was an article linked earlier which linked to a different article about a study showing that Obama has decent support from working class whites... except in the south.

www.motherjones.com

/Cue southern revisionists explaining that its the rest of the country that are the real racists

MaudlinMutantMollusk: Why do I get the feeling his next dirty job is going to be shoveling dancing horse sh*t?

If they stop the music, gathering up all of that dancing horse shiat is much less work. Otherwise, you have to chase it all over the dance floor.

Mike Rowe endorsing Mitt Romney does not improve my opinion of Romney nor does it diminish my opinion of Mike Rowe. I'm still not voting for Romney and will continue to enjoy "Dirty Jobs" with a clean conscience.

Ironically enough, that gives me a 404 error, with a picture of(Are you ready for this?) an Etch-A-Sketch!

He should stick to wading in shait and shilling for Ford.

Rose McGowan Loveslave: He is an advocate for the laborer and promotes vocational education.

I complete agree, which is why I question his desire to even be seen in the same state as Mitt Romney.

Mike and Rmoney

I am disappoint. Meh.

2012-09-26 07:51:40 PM
He's wrong for thinking Romney has any interest in helping working class Americans, but I've seen speeches of his on Youtube/etc and he seems passionate about the skilled labor situation so I can't be mad at him for simply misplacing his loyalty.

He's still a good man, just one with unrealistic expectations of politicians.

Is this the same Mike Rowe that got alarmingly excited when he got to jack-off, excuse me, "seed collect" from a horse, on his TV show, using a horsey fleshlight? THAT MIKE ROWE? Who the fark cares?

2012-09-26 08:34:30 PM
I had just read Mike Rowes post before I saw this

bad submitter, bad

bad brietbart

The posts on the facebook page are just as derpy as anything here

oh, sometime in the last 200 years or so

Mike, poll the peeps you've had on your show. See how many of them can imagine Rmoney doing what they do.

2012-09-27 01:18:03 AM
I'm not the least bit surprised, subby. Mike Rowe also endorsed the Ford Focus.

2012-09-27 01:45:37 AM
Relax, people.

http://thehill.com/video/campaign/258819-romney-leans-on-dirty-jobs- h o st-mike-rowe-at-ohio-rally
"Although the television star, who also appears in commercials for Ford Motor Co., made clear his appearance did not constitute an endorsement, he spoke at length about his concerns surrounding the direction of a country."

So the Breitbart article is full of shiat, which shouldn't surprise anyone. But more importantly, Mike Rowe doesn't strike me as a party-line Republican or a campaign shill. I think he's interested in getting his own message, about the devaluation and loss of respect for blue-collar jobs, across through whatever platform he can get access to. Listen to some of his interviews, particularly the TED Talks one. I get the impression that Romney's campaign is an opportunity for him to promote that message, since Romney responded to his letter and saw him as an opportunity to get some star power and hitch their wagon to it.

I get the impression Rowe probably leans conservative. I personally don't think Romney's policies or history indicate that his presidency would complement Rowe's goals at all, and that it might be a mistake to wade into the orbit of a political campaign, to mix metaphors. So this is possibly a judgment error, or more simply, a dumb move. But everyone saying WELP MIKE ROWE SUCKS FOREVER NOW, TOO BAD, get a grip. Look at everything else he's said and done before you write off the value of someone's contribution to a national conversation because he spoke to a Romney crowd.

I have no idea who this guy is. But see his face on some tv commercials I quickly skip over with the DVR. He's nothing but a "show me the money" corporate whore who will endorse anything. So obviously this is just a marketing campaign where they pay him to endorse Mittens Gaff Romney.

Mikey1969: No, reality TV predates that. We have MTv and The Real World to thank.

Yeah but back in the old days, THAT was the stuff we could fap to. The hot mtv host, the hot real world contestants. But people actually listened to them speak???

FilmBELOH20: As opposed to Romney's opponent who came from nothingness to become the leader of the free world. By nothingness, of course, I mean private school from grade 5 on, never having to get a job, basically a free ride through college, never having a real job after college, and going from the state senate to half a term in the US Senate to being President. What struggles this man overcame!

Congratulations on knowing nothing about his past but still having such arrogance and confidence to post this nonsense.

So to sum up, Rowe doesn't consider his attending an event with Romney (who joked Mike was doing the "dirty job" of "standing with" him) an endorsement but he's apparently gonna vote for him because Mittens simulated reading a letter Mike wrote in a photo op?

That about sum this up?

/Also, apparently Mike Rowe is something of a hottie according to many farkettes.
//They find him handsome *and* handy, apparently.

Don't these two statements contradict each other?

Like, doesn't this apply to you, too? I get your cynicism because he's a pitchman, but that's a pretty blanket dismissal of someone you admitted you know nothing about, the same thing you're snapping at this dummy for.

My impression is the "I'll vote for you if you actually read it" wasn't serious, but obviously I have no way of knowing. It'd be a dumb reason to vote for Romney, though

You quite clearly do know who he is.

I said I have no idea who this guy is outside of seeing him in a commercial for Ford

I dismiss anyone who takes money and endorses a product. They are nothing but a corporate whore, willing to say anything for money

2012-09-27 09:59:04 PM
I'm no fan of commercials either, but doesn't it just mean they're willing to endorse that particular product for money, rather than any product for money? Patton Oswalt did a commercial once too. So have a lot of people I respect. It's obnoxious but I don't get bent out of shape about it and start declaring the death of their integrity as a human being forever.

/just sayin'
