Hey, he accidentally told the truth about what Republicans believe, and that certainly deserves punishment, but only for so long, right?

Never underestimate the stupidity of red states. They are usually on the wrong side of everything, from the Civil War on. Yes, I live in Virginia, but it's purple now dammit, purple!

/although McDonnell and Cuccinelli are making us look redder than Texas these days with their anti-women and anti-gay crap

Pretty much. I mean the GOP wants to force women to carry their rape babies to term so their is only so much you can criticize Akin for after he apologize for taking it a little further than that.

GOP platform:

1) women are partly responsible rape (check, no problem)

2) women lie about getting raped (check, no problem)

3) a rape baby is gift from God (check, no problem)

4) rape rape and rape are not the same thing (check, no problem)

5) bonus vaginal ultrasound wand rape with every rape (check, no problem)

6) women who use birth control are whores (check, no problem)

7) women should be forced to carry their rape babies to term (check, no problem)

8) you can't get pregnant from rape (hold on there buddy, that is probably true but pull that shiat back to 7, broads still can vote.)

Ahh the standard "We don't see eye to eye on everything but..." political approach to throwing support to a guy you tried to throw under the bus just days earlier.

I farking hate politicians.

They have to try and keep/win as many congressional seats as possible.

Money is flowing into these races and away from the deadweight known as Mitt Romney.

GOP throws support to Todd Akin after withdrawal deadline passes

Typical Republican "values". It ain't about what's right, it's about winning.

So this means the GOP as a national party supports Akin's beliefs right? They are endorsing him, right? I guess I should be grateful though. The GOP almost looked like they had a good moral position when they repudiated Akin, but by acknowledging that it was only about popularity, they've made it much easier for me to completely disrespect them again.

Party before principles every time. Which wouldn't annoy me so much if Republicans would stop insiting that theirs is the party of Christian values and moral rectitude

I remember when david duke ran as a republican...the republicans around the nation actually came out in support of the democrat.

I don't think republicans would do that anymore.

Especially since the dukes of the world are now their base.

So this means that the GOP completely owns and supports Todd Akin's comments and beliefs, right? That means we can start harvesting Anti-Rape Acid from female GOPers and begin to study it, right?

Researching Anti-Rape Acid is great because it gives you access to Tank/Acid Sprayer, which can breach outer walls of UFO's 20% of the time and doesn't use ammo. I'd still research the Avenger first, though.

In GOP Half-Life, the army (tea partiers) and aliens (inbred rednecks) attack Black Mesa because there is science in there and no Jesus. Gordon Freeman is a liberal with hipster glasses, using a crowbar as a weapon because it's low-tech and ironic.

Its just a case of top of the ticket fail. If Romney goes down in flames he can take the house snd senate with him.

So now the are trying quietly as possible to hedge that outcome.

2012-09-26 11:47:08 AM
As much as it sounds crazy, it looks like Akin outplayed the GOP. He said something ball-achingly stupid, the GOP (along with everyone else, with a 24-hour delay) criticized him for it and threatened him to get him to step down. Akin says "Fark you - I run when I wanna run. If it's a legitimate concern, the electorate has ways of shutting that whole thing down. Try and stop me."

The GOP didn't try (other than saying bad things about him on TV - and only national TV, not in local ads) to stop him, and now that we're past the point of withdrawal (you might say "into campaign viability"), they have no choice but to support Akin.

Well played, you misogynistic farkwad. Seems the only intelligence you have is in campaigning against your party.

Who knew that when Reagan spaketh "thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican" he was actually dooming his party.
What followed was a boiling down to the lowest common denominator.

I think there's a decent chance that when the future historians look back, they'll pinpoint Reagan's terms in office as the start of the decline.

The Republicans should have let this slide. Akin is an embarrassment and even if he supports your party's actual agenda, the way he did it only encourages him to go even more retard if he manages to win. If not, there's a six year time when the Democrats can wheel him out to showcase the GOP's agenda, all there in old bigoted form.

The Republicans must be desperate. They know Romney is done for.

I think the GOP has given up on Romney and they are returning to their key goal of electing congressmen. The link yesterday about the GOP becoming a regional party explains it pretty well.

Oh gee, it's Gingrich and Santorum and Demint, three of the biggest, least credible assholes in America. Well, this will SURELY turn the tide for Akin!

Because to Republican politics is more important than giving a shiat about women.

Oh I was HOPING for this. I hope the democrats NAIL them for this.

It's because 2 months ago they thought they would sail to a Senate Majority even with him losing. Now that looks more and more unlikely so they'll take every bottom feeder they can get their hands on.

If you get raped, just go to the Emergency Room. They don't have rape kits, and they won't let you have Plan B, or even swab you for STDs, and tough titty if you get AIDS from being raped, but at least they won't just let you die in your apartment.

If he's re-elected, one positive thing will be that he'll be a constant reminder of what the modern "conservative" Republican Party is about. He will be an always-fresh trump card whenever Fark independents do their "both sides are bad, vote Republican" thing.
