Cythraul: She could think of a few uses for such a device.

GardenWeasel: This will be a godsend to ALS patients.
SlothB77: how do you avoid clicking a link or picture or video by inadvertantly looking at it? Like, woah, boobies, but, uh oh that obviously looks like a malicious site or uh oh, I am at work.
BarkingUnicorn: The low price of this thing seems to depend on the health of the video game console industry. I wouldn't bank on such a business plan.
GardenWeasel: This will be a godsend to ALS patients. Insurance won't cover the cost of the current devices that run up to 10 grand. My sister-in-law was on a waiting list for over a year for one supplied through a local agency. She died shortly after finally getting it.
bigbadideasinaction: Having played with an eyetracker for a computer in the lab I was in, I'll remain skeptical.I remember trying to play pong with it. It was great as long as the paddle moved faster then the ball - watch the ball, hit the ball back. As soon as the ball became faster it was near-impossible, since your eyes would track the back and move the paddle away from where it was going to land, meaning the only way to play was to fixate on the spot you hoped it was going to land on, then close your eyes so your eyes don't reflexively track the moving dot in your periphery.I assume it's come a long way from that, but still, our tendancy to track things means we often look at things we don't necessarily want to change focus to.
Prank Call of Cthulhu: Ts s reevat t terests
IronJelly: There was just a discussion on slashdot about a gamer who is losing an arm. This would be wicked for FPS games if it works well enough.

My sister-in-law was on a waiting list for over a year for one supplied through a local agency. She died shortly after finally getting it.In a break from fark's usual collective cynicism, I'd just like to say I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your sister - and hopefully this device will help others. Do you know if it helped her in the time she had it?
Yuri Futanari: I'll wait till they couple it with the Oculus Rift
