Carboard Dalton is easily the worst Bond to date, and Jester Moore, while second-runner up,had his moments, the best of which was For Your Eyes Only.

I just didn't like the instant campyness of Roger Moore. It always seems like they expected each one of the Moore movies to be the last so fark it. There were moments but that style was just obnoxious.

Connery... Sean Connery, was the first actor to take on the role of 007

Um, no. He was the third, actually.

And let's just get this out of the way.

I see no bond in that movie, just a villain.

Save yourself a couple of seconds: all of Bond, with bunnies.

It didn't work. Roger Moore was one of the shiattiest James Bonds, and these were "brain candy" movies to begin with.

Roger Moore is the best Bond. Not the best actor. But, the best Bond.

Although I completely agree, I will say that I can watch Daniel Craig Bond movies for years. I get a little sick of Roger after 1 movie.

I did a marathon of Bond films this summer, and stalled out at Octopussy. God DAMN that was a bad film.Thought I could push through the pain of the Moore years. Will try again when I've recovered.

(Truth is, they've all been kind of shiatty since Goldfinger). No one needs a new Bond film, that ground is well covered now.

I thought Pierce Brosnan was a good Bond who was stuck in some terribly written movies.

It's hard to pick who or what was the best in the franchise. I sorta like everything Bond except George Lazenby. But if I had to pick...

Roger Moore was the best Bond

Jane Seymour was the hottest bond girl

Goldeneye was the best film.

I always got a Bill Shatner vibe from Moore's Bond.

Also: ruining a totally awesome car jump with a slide whistle, and that fat southern sheriff that showed up in multiple movies is totally unacceptable.

Connery did play Bond first in the movies...but Casino Royale was made for live TV here in the US back in the 50's starring John Barry (i think...yea its the same as the composer but no relation). No sure who was second on TV?

Lazenby was good in an almost great movie. Moore played the part with a nod toward the comedic side...he said something like "Everyone knew who Bond was so it was so absurd that it was not a bit silly" or something like that. And recently, watching the first Connery ones, I was struck at how much the new guy resembles him. I've enjoyed all the differences between them...some more than others and I am still a bit miffed that Dalton did not get to do more. He was actually pretty good...besides anyone that can do a wheelie in an 18 wheeler deserves another movie...right???

Dalton was ruined by bad scripts. I've seen enough of his other work to know he could have been much better. Smirking Moore was a franchise choice at the time--again not all his fault.

From what I've read of Ian Flemming, Bond comes across as not having much of a sense of humor, and not really liking to kill people, so kind of Moore without the humor or Craig without the primal joy of killing.

Roger Moore was a lousy Bond. But he was a great ffolkes.

Timothy Dalton was supposed to play Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (the one with Lazenby.)

Pierce Brosnan was supposed to replace Roger Moore but couldn't when NBC decided to un-cancel Remington Steele.

The US television version (Barry Nelson as Jimmy Bond) is truly terrible.

My mistake, I thought the David Niven Casino Royale was before Dr No. But Connery's still not the first.

I found some reruns of "The Saint" recently, and after watching them, it dawned on me:

Roger Moore wasn't playing James Bond. He was playing Simon Templar playing James Bond.

Bond movies are just about the only flicks I go to on opening night (or weekend). I'm looking forward to SkyFall.

God, Roger Moore is absolutely terrible. They're the worst kind of Bond movies - crass racist and sexist jokes padding out the time between the next car/boat/plane/whatever chase and ridiculous set pieces of plot designed around the latest completely impractical and ludicrous gadget. Plus, Roger Moore's completely wooden acting and vaguely sneering sense of "humour" makes him flat out unlikeable. Whenever he's supposed to be sad or angry, he instead just comes off as disgusted, and whenever he's supposed to be funny, he's just condescending.

The only Moore movies I can stand are Live and Let Die which manages to be less than terrible for most of its running time, despite the racist sheriff, the ludicrous shark pen finale, the terrible CIA girl (and Bond's condescension to her) and basically, the entirety of the Harlem scenes and The Spy Who Loved Me isn't completely terrible, either, although it tends to run together in my head with For Your Eyes Only for some reason.

NotEric: Timothy Dalton was supposed to play Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (the one with Lazenby.)

When he finally accepted in the 1980s, Dalton said in a LIFE Magazine interview that he turned down the Bond role back then because he felt he was much too young.
