Mitt Romneys Tax Return: 93% of Fox News' and 80% of the Wall Street Journal opinion pages' climate coverage is inaccurate and misleading.

I'm a WSJ subscriber, their journalism is still above average. Their opinion page was always madness - before Murdoch took them over.

The headline reminded me to look up a group I heard about on the radio. I was certain it was made up. It wasn't. The Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta

theknuckler_33: I'm not dismissing what you said, but honestly, what's the point? It's like 'dismantling the misinformation out there' about supply-side economics. If people believe it, there's nothing you are going to do to change their mind... this isn't an education issue, it is a political one. The issue isn't really the science, it is the policy response to the science. If the policy response isn't in the conservative playbook, then the science obviously is wrong. You can't argue with that. At least not to the end of changing political minds.

I'll disagree to a point: it is an education issue. Critical thinking skills in the general populace seems to have plummeted. As a personal observation people rather be spoon fed their knowledge rather than actually weigh out the competing ideologies. "People I agree with" become the authority. However, you're right, it is a political issue to. And the reason I continue to do it is because if I can just reach a few more people each time it's worth it. I didn't get into science merely for the sweet paychecks, but also because I believed in making this world a little bit better through advancing knowledge. It's part of the 'mission' it doesn't remain an echo in a chamber.

I know that Occum's Razor was probably made up by some commie scientist funded by RESEARCH GRANTS!!! but it states that the most probable or obvious conclusion is often true. So which is more probable, that close to the entire scientific community is accurate when they think that spewing pollution and carbon dioxide is causing detrimental effects to the environment that we should probably look into stopping....or that they're just making shiat up to earn RESEARCH GRANTS! from whoever, when much richer entities like governments and oil companies could have easily bought them all off if they were inclined to take the bribes they're being accused of?

And how much would one rogue agent in this cabal of evil scientists stand to make if they conclusively proved that everyone else was on the take?

They're scientists which means they read stuff. That's a problem right there.

So that's whatever became of Joe Bastardi, the former AccuWeather guru-in-residence.

FTA: NASA climatologist Gavin Schmidt told Media Matters for Fox to present Joe Bastardi, their weather forecaster, as a climate expert is "about as credible as someone claiming to be an expert on the Greenland ice sheet because they eat ice cream."

Joe may have been "encouraged" to resign from AccuWeather after 30-plus years because his meteorological acumen was being overshadowed by his climatological whargarbl. Link, including a prophetic prediction.

spongeboob: What is going to happen regarding Climate Change is that at some point when it can not be denied, some Premillenial author is going to go back to Revelations or Daniel and find something that proves that Biblical Prophecy predicted Climate Change.

At that point the Premillenial Christians will say there is nothing we can do because it is all according to God's Plan

Well, they'll be half right - when it gets to that point there will be nothing we can do. In fact I wonder if it's not already too late.

Wasn't that aired the day in '08 or '09 when all the contiguous states had some form of snowfall? I seem to remember Colbert mocking the sh*t out of it the next night saying (paraphrased), "Ladies and gentleman, it is now dark outside. From this we can only conclude...THE SUN HAS IMPLODED."

Do you sprinkle PCP on your Raisin Bran? Just because it makes you feel better to recite the old talk radio canard that the big bad gubmit and the worldwide scientific community are all part of a massive conspiracy to defraud the public into...well, into what, exactly?...does not make it true.

Media outlets controlled by monied interests who would be hurt by the general acceptance of this science is far, far more plausible. But hey, those chickens aren't gonna fark themselves.

Thern there's Richard Muller. An institute funded by the Koch Brothers gave him a grant, as he was a well known climate change skeptic, to marshall the data. The idea was to show that previous studies used unreliable data and were in general too flawed to be taken seriously.

Instead, the previous studies were largely right

And Muller wrote an op-ed in the NYT announcing he'd reversed his previous stance:

CALL me a converted skeptic. Three years ago I identified problems in previous climate studies that, in my mind, threw doubt on the very existence of global warming. Last year, following an intensive research effort involving a dozen scientists, I concluded that global warming was real and that the prior estimates of the rate of warming were correct. I'm now going a step further: Humans are almost entirely the cause.

Turns out that scientists are convinced by evidence. Who knew?

Yeah, my bet is that the 7% accuracy rate on Fox News was by pure accident. Someone misread something and it ended up being correct.

So...these news services are "wrong'...even though the leading research authority on "Climate Change" admitted that they lied about the facts they presented? How can you push something as "science" when the scientists who were studying this "Climate Change" got caught in lying about their findings

Science is not "Family Feud".....science is not consensus formed by picking the most popular answer

WSJ and FOX are both owned by Murdoch and support the GOP party line to the letter.

The GOP are now and have always been meatpuppets for Big Oil.

Big Oil are the primary manufacturers and disseminaters of all the anti-science whargaarbl that exists in the world of AGW/ACC denial.

Guess what I'm trying to say here is that the Obvious tag is obviously a good pick here.

My favorite as a recent Forbes article about the expansion ice at the southern pole that was invariably cited by the wackos and corporate shills.

Its not substance, but the muddying of the water with misleading information. Regardless of what happens at the South Pole, losing northern ice will change the climate of the planet, especially in the northern hemisphere.

I heard a story on NPR a week or so back, with a guy who lives much of the time in Antartica. He noticed how much the place changes each year, especially the western hemisphere part. He noted one glacier in particular, where you once heard a loud crash as part of it broke off, once or twice a month. It's now almost hourly.

The scientific community, insofar as it describes people that actually publish regularly rather than just everyone with a degree, is in the literal sense socialist, as it's funded by governments and intercorporate alliances that might as well be governments.

There certainly is privately-funded research, but it's not part of the community as such.

That is NOT what socialism means dumbass
