The Panthers have been a disappointment so far this year. Cam seems to be heading for a sophomore slump and the whole team (defense especially) looks like its been reading its press clippings and forgot they were pretty mediocre last year.

A shame, too, with the Aints taking the year off and TB desperately trying to get their players hurt so they can say they played till the end, it could have been a Panthers/Falcons fight for the division. I don't think even Falcons fans trust Matty Ice enough not to be worried about that.

My understanding was Steve Smith wanted Cam to watch and be involved with the game after Cam was pulled. He told him thats what losing is about and that you have to own up to it. He didn't blame him, he just wanted his QB to develop as a player and a person by taking responsibility and gear him towards self improvement.

Sounds like an actual leader. I'd want Steve Smith on my team not just for ability.

If that's the case, then ya. Rivera needs to put himself in context real quick. Then again, when the league its pretty much descending into chaos caused by replacement refs and Goodell, it doesn't really matter what the hell you do right now.

In light of Newton's reaction on the sideline, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday that Newton has been working with a "mind coach" to help him with the expectations of his second year in the league.

This guy?

Steve Smith can do no wrong in my mind and Cam needs to grow a pair.

I don't think Rivera had a problem with Smith giving Cam a talking-to, I think he had a problem with telling the Charlotte Observer about it.

Newton is a complete ass but has tons of talent. He wore sunglasses inside the Georgia Dome for the Auburn game. He sticks his tongue out at fans. He steals laptops. Dude has one of the most beautiful passing motions I have ever seen.

/yes yes Allbarn fans, we know, I am a hater

I condemn Rivera's condemnation of Smith's condemnation of Newton.
