Only if the Missouri's Senate seats have a way of shutting that whole thing down.

If anyone in the Republican Party harbors illusions that Todd Akin will bow out of the Missouri U.S. Senate race by a September 25 deadline, he is quite happy to disabuse them.

Of the words containing "abuse", you could have just gone with "abuse".

Thank you, Mr. Akin. The headlines that have sprung on Fark because of you asshattery have been both hilarious and unending.

Oh, and fark you, douchebag.

Why would he bow out? Just because he said something most Republicans believe?

It's a bit odd how the media focuses on the "legitimate rape" phrase while mostly ignoring that Akin described some kind of magical acid that the vagina secretes in order to kill a rapist's sperm, while being part of the science committee.

In a world where North Korea can be part of the UN Peacekeeping commission, and Republicans can argue taxes need to be raised and lowered, the "bizarro world" or "alternate reality".makes more sense than our own.

It's so weird seeing Claire on Rachel Maddow in the evening acting all liberal and then the next day she's pandering to right wingers in local commercials.

I'll vote for her because I have to, but I don't have to like it. And I won't be at all surprised if Akin wins.

That is the GOP mindset that most Americans don't get. What you are doing doesn't work, so you are going to double-down? If being stupid didn't work, being twice as stupid next time will?

fark the GOP - they require a beheading at this point.

The Republican party turned on Akin, including its presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who said Akin should step aside.

He articulated the intellectual basis for a major tenet of the GOP platform and for that they know he is not electable.

Todd Akin: Because your vagina needs rules.

First rule of Akin's Vagina Club.

1. Don't talk about vagina club.
2. Don't talk about vagina club.
3. If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the f*ck is legitimately over.
4. Only two heteroseuxal f*ckers at a time.
5. One f*ck at a time (no dildo in the anal area).
6. No shirts, no shoes, no rubbers.
7. F*cks will go on as long as they have to.
8. If this is your first night at vagina club, you HAVE to f*ck.

Offensive? I didn't find them offensive either. I found them terrifying. I found them to be out of touch with reality to a degree I had previously thought impossible. I found them more distressing than I could have imagined.

But no, I was not offended. Something has.to interface with reality in some level to offend me.

Because of the Moral Majority and Falwell, the two will be tangled together for at least another generation.

Some of the fundies don't seem to get that the brand of Christianity taught in the political arena today would have had Jesus thrown out of the temple for bothering the money changers.

For realz:

Die-Hard 2012 Christians are:

1) Very liberal with the amount of man seed they pump into a vagina over the years
2) Very liberal when it comes to the amount big government control they want over your vagina.
3) Very liberal when it comes to tithing (theosocialism!)

This is one of the biggest problems with the GOP right now. They are no longer just a political entity (if they ever were, I'm not old enough or well versed enough to know), they are a Religious Party and that religion happens to be one of the more divisive and bigoted religions out there.

/Well they have a lot of other big problems, we need a sane third party to take over for the GOP that is to the right of the Dems and then we might get things done in this country.

2012-09-25 09:56:12 AM
the GOP might have to actively sabotage this guy's campaign. if he somehow manages to win, they're gonna have a bit of a public relations issue on their hands.

A lot of prosperity gospel types like to believe themselves to be 'conservatives'. they really aren't, nor does any of their beliefs actually conform to an actual 'conservative' point of view but that's how they get reported in the news.

I'm glad she's there just because she serves as a counter-weight to the herpty derp on the other side, but I rarely watch her. It's embarrassing to see a 40-year-old Rhoades Scholar and Ph.D emote like a Valley Girl.

And when she first got her show it was like watching a slightly effeminate version of Keith Olbermann.

The best scenario to be played out is that Obama wins in a decent margin - one where they can't whine about voter fraud costing them the election. Then the GOP will turn hard to the right, thinking they're just not conservative enough. So in 2016, with the economy fully recovered, they'll REALLY have nothing, and if there is a decent Democrat candidate, they might just lose big enough to fracture the party. Neohawks vs. Teabaggers vs. Libertarians vs. Reaganites.

Oh my! (Takei voice)

Do they really care though? If they win, they are that much closer to controlling Congress and as we have seen these past few years, MOAR POWER is the only thing they care about.

That is what we need at this point. I'm not in love with the Dems but at least they seem to be grounded in reality, which is no longer the case for the GOP as a whole. There probably are some decent people with sane ideas but I don't know who or where they are and unless they can take control and kick the crazies out we all might be farked. It might already be too late.

Conservatism and Christianity are paradoxical beliefs. The GOP really wants corporate control over the population with a pseudo-fascist belief structure instilled in the population for social control. They have learned that if you lie enough people will start to believe it, if you have a willfully ignorant group it becomes easier, and if you demonize any opposing view (Obama is a socialist, Gays are sinners, If you don't support the president during a time of war you are anti-american unless that president is a democrat)
