"Well, we're obviously dealing with a whole population that doesn't listen to newscasts or read a newspaper"

Or, as the rest of the world refers to them, "Americans".

Sybarite: tirob: GoldSpider: tirob: If Stern supports Romney, there isn't a single one of these people who isn't smarter than him, however ignorant they may be.

So you don't know who he supports, but that doesn't deter you from commenting anyway.

Stern was on record in 2008 as endorsing Ron Paul. I doubt that he supports Obama. But since you insist, I'll take back what I wrote and replace it with this: If Stern supports Ron Paul, there isn't a single one of these people who isn't *much* smarter than him, however ignorant they may be.

Stern has been going on for the last couple of weeks about how he's going to vote for Obama, and went into a whole thing the other day about the Matt Taibbi article on Romney's history of LBOs and how that just further proves to him that Romney is kind of a scumbag and not good for the country. Stern considers himself and independent. He voted for Bush then voted for Kerry when he realized how thoroughly the country was lied to about the invasion of Iraq. While he is a fan of Ron Paul, Stern was also a big fan of Bill Clinton and a supporter of Hilary in the 2008 primary. He ended up voting for Obama in the general election in no small part because he thought Palin was insane.

Silly, don't you know not to let the facts get in the way in the middle of a Stern bash fest?

/I'm listening right now so I'm getting a kick.

NYCNative: There are low-information voters on both sides of the politial spectrum. However, whenever they poll what people know and then compare where they are getting their information, charts such as this appear:

[truthisawoman.files.wordpress.com image 302x303]

And this:

[i307.photobucket.com image 388x293]

And this:

[cache.gawkerassets.com image 773x581]

In fact, people who get their news from comedians tend to be better informed:

[travonfree.files.wordpress.com image 360x335]

So while both sides have some percentage of people in it who qualify as low information voters, it's blazingly obvious which political party and news outlet takes the most advantage of ignorance.

Thank you for posting that information. It is very helpful. Of course, Fox News watchers will say that those graphs are proof that the media outlets are "librul."

I'm not sure, but that's the exact place he got his 'well sampled' audience. He obviously picked the stupidest people he could find.

Howard Stern has no actual life skills. He can be an asshole, and that's what gets him a paycheck, but that doesn't automatically make it a "skill".

I can understand young people, who have no perspective, believing the presidential reality show; but if you have watched administration after administration come and go with no changes to the foreign policy or the monetary policy: excepting, more profitable war and more banking deregulation leading to institutionalized fraud and theft are the only changes I have witnessed outside of the growing police state and prison population.

I know the MSM scoffs at these obvious facts and hordes of dimwits will throw a fit when they read my words. I called the WHAAAAAAAAAAMBULANCE, so have it TV heads!

I have no problem with Stern doing this. Both sides have ignorant idiots in their base. If anything, this proves that the Democrats are more than just a country club for the educated elites we're always hearing about. No, it really doesn't bother me that a certain proportion of a party's base is ignorant. It's the number of ignorant elected officials that bother me. And, although the Democrats do have some excellent examples of ignorance, the Republicans still outshine them in the Great Dumb Parade.

So you are saying????? You don't mind the ignorance?

I'm saying I mind it more in people who have power over me.

I guess supporting Obama does not automatically make you intelligent or well-informed.

To extend that statement, I guess supporting Romney does not automatically make you an idiot.

I am sure there are well-reasoned and well-informed people in both camps, as well as idiots in both camps.

Not sure what this proves. Many folks already knew this stuff anyway, and those that didn't probably still think Osama is alive and that Romney wants to roll down windows at 37,000 feet.

Makh: Meanwhile, Fox now realizes there are people who don't know that OBL is dead. This is great because Romney can finally kill him too. OBLs death isn't an Obama victory, it's an American victory (for Romney.)

Howard Stern interviews idiots who support Obama on the streets of New York, and Fox News is at fault.

Good job, guys, what a way to accept reality.

I can accept that there are misinformed or uninformed democrats or supporters of Obama. But we haven't let the misinformed and uninformed supporters take over and define our platform. On the other hand, the level of misinformation that seems to run abound in the Republican Party is staggering and scary.  And it seems that FOX News purposely keeps their audience misinformed. And implying that other news sources aren't telling them the truth (because it doesn't agree with their agenda) is a very bad thing. Sure viewers have a choice, but telling people that all other news sources are lying to them and putting their audience in a constant level of fear and anger is not a good thing.

I am not implying that MSNBC is not left leaning. I agree that MSNBC leans to the left. But you don't hear MSNBC telling their viewers on a regular basis that everybody else (including our president) is lying to them and therefore guns, religion and no abortions for you.

It was NBC that got into trouble with a broadcast of the edited 911 tape of George Zimmerman calling to report Trayvon Martin before he shot him.

Agreed. So when did FOX News report that none of Trayvon's DNA was found on the gun?

just curious did they report that it was found on the gun

Great concept, horrible idea. Perhaps instead we should start teaching facts about civics in school. Examples:
-three branches of government (Communism, Marxism and Socialism for Democrats; Jesus, Tax Cuts, and War for Republicans)
-how a bill becomes a law (if it tramples freedoms, the Democrats shove it down our throats; if it supports punishing sluts or making rich people slightly richer, the Republicans bravely stuck their necks out for The People)
-how courts work (minorities get to play the institutional race card, white folks are guilty until plea bargain)
-presidential elections (voter fraud, ACORN/Soros, the Electoral College and How Third Parties Are an Affront to Decency and Americanism)
-The Constitution and How it Applies to Your Life (you can't object to what someone says - pesky First Amendment - unless you're a Republican; guns are mandatory everywhere but confessional, and some other things about how it's legal to torture - but only terrorists we're "sure" did some bad stuff [just trust us], your right to a trial [see above], and NO MENTION OF A RIGHT TO PRIVACY BECAUSE PRIVACY IS FOR SOCIALISTS WITH SOMETHING TO HIDE AND FURTHERMORE)

Someone was trying stuff like this downtown in Indianapolis the other day, asking about political leadership in both the State and the Country and filming people's reaction. I was watching from an outdoor table at Jimmy John's and it was quite humorous to hear some of the answers; although usually the response was just "I don't know".

They pretty much stopped interviewing me when I began debating the merits of the Lt. Governors agenda in a lame duck session.

I want to shake these people and say, "biatches, I'm from the FARK politics tab ... I know all the names, all the theories and have heard of ALL the stupidity."

On a related note, here's a clip of Jon Stewart appearing on that news program. Warning- Don't watch this clip if you like Jon Stewart, he comes across as a pathetic little baby crying for him momma's teet.

Or maybe you're trolling. Nobody could be that disconnected from reality.

Know how I know you didn't watch the clip?

You know how I know you're detached from reality?

We can go back and forth discussing a clip you haven't watched, or you can break down and actually watch it. Once you do I suspect you will change your tune about this topic.

What do you have to lose but your own ignorance?

I've already see the interview awhile ago which is how I know you're living in a parallel universe where Chris Wallace isn't a smug douche pretending to do real news trying to lecture a comedian.

At least you agree that Stewart is a comedian and nothing more.

As far as your comments about Chris Wallace, I am a bit perplexed. I've never heard anyone question his intellect or his intelligence. Just because he allowed Jon Stewart to hang himself with circular reasoning doesn't mean that he should be called a "smug douche."

Or do you simply mock all intelligent people?
