Nice that they gave the dog a new leash on life.

We've a 14 year old who went blind a earlier this year. He's .. not doing well. He won't be with us much longer.

I'm glad to see this worked out for the dog and them. I'm happy for them.

Tell me about the video, brings you right to tears.

I'm working on a 10-month-old Siberian Husky right now that we rescued from NC three weeks ago, but I've got nothing on these people and their help of dogs.

Miss Stein: Repeat?

Follow-up. Thought the same thing, but the story does have updates. Anyway, it's not one I'd be particularly inclined to quibble about, even it was a repeat.

No it's the same video as before.

Apparently I am allergic to blind poodles.

Saw this video about 10 months ago and this apartment seems just about as dusty as it was the first time round. I really need to vacuum more.

My parents rescued a similar poodle back when I was a kid. He was a sweet dog, not blind though. Clearly had been somebodies but when we got him he had, as they said, the worst flea infestation I've ever seen.

He lived a long and happy life.

Damnit I miss having dog(s), but can't pen one in an apartment all day when I don't spend that much time here.

Neat story...

Subby... would you like to buy a couple commas? I'll let 'em go cheap and it looks like you're missing some.

I saw a flea-bitten blind poodle cowering in the trash and I was like "Whateves attention whore, your plight was totes greenlit in like 2007."  (I speak fluent southern Californian and I wanted this shameless poodle to understand just how disgruntled I was.)

The nerve of some blind poodles flea bitten poodles cowering in the trash.  Geesh, I never.

I had a toy poodle who looked just like that, and who went completely blind. We never had the money to fix her eyes, and my ex-g/f (the legal owner) refused to put the dog down despite hip dysplasia and 3 types of cancer. All I could think while watching this video was how terrified she was when she didn't know what was going on, and I instantly imagined the dog living that way every #%$@ing day...

Yeah, I really need an ionic breeze to take care of the dust in here...

Thank Goodness for such amazingly caring and generous people like these two. I can only imagine the terror that little dog was living in, and how hungry the poor little blind dog was when they found him. I found my little white poodle dodging cars on 69th and York in Manhattan. The Vet said it appeared she'd been out on the street for 3 weeks and had perhaps eaten rocks, which destroyed her teeth. We tried for months but were unable to find her person. This little dog looks so much like my little Janis. I found Janis when she was around 6 or 8 according to the Vet, and I had her with me for 10 wonderful years. Knowing how much life Janis had left in her when I found her, and how much joy she was able to experience in those 10 years (once she settled in and realized she'd found a loving safe home), this little poodle can have some wonderful years ahead. The world is made a better place when we help each other, and that includes animals.

Have a friend that bought two prosthetic eyeballs for blind cat to the tune of $5000. Just wondered what a prosthetic body would cost since he lives on the 32nd floor of condo with a balcony.

You may want to stick with the actual dog.  The shiate appears to be crawling with ringworm.

Totally not even watching that video.

Father passed away a few years ago. Took his elderly Siamese in. Was a great cat for the three months she was with me. Lost the use of her hind legs. Couldn't get out of the liter box so just slept in there. Went blind and wouldn't close her eyes. Man. Was going to take her into the vet once I knew she couldn't see but she didn't make it to the morning. I was a wreck the entire day.

We had a kick-ass Fox Terrier when I was kid. Regular wonder dog that one. But when she turned 14 she went deaf. Then she went blind. Even that wasn't all that bad but she ended up wandering off a couple of times and lucky for us would get picked up by some neighbors who recognized her. The last few months we had her she was a mess though. Anytime she fell asleep she'd pee her bed. It was so bad that I'd look at her and she'd fight so hard to stay awake. Her head would droop and then she'd shoot back up. Over and over until she would lose to the exhaustion. Then we'd hear her cry and whimper and mom would gingerly pick up the bedding to clean it and I'd take her to the bathroom to wash her legs and belly. Then one day she actually had the energy to walk outside all by herself and went to sleep on the lawn. At least she went peacefully.

/RIP Shawna

I will go out on a limb and say they are wrong.

As someone who had both dogs and cats together in a house (multiples of each) they get along better than us humans. In fact, the oldest cat still misses my Jack Russell terrier. She was her adoptive mom and looked after him when we brought him and his 4 litter-mates in. My poor little pup got old and quite disabled (nearly 100% blind, unable to walk very well, etc.) and eventually at 17 years old I had to do what many good people who share their lives with pets do. I cried for days. But the cat never forgot her and still will come running, as old as he is now, when he hears me shake her collar with tags on it.

He used to groom her when she got too old to get around anymore. He would bring her his toys. He would literally drill his head into hers and she would love every second of it, wagging her little stub tail like mad. She loved that cat and he loved her.

I think we could learn a lot from our pets, if only we paid attention to how they deal with each other.

/now i AM crying because i miss my little pupper
//she was my only dog ever and know that i am in an apartment i cannot have another until the divorce is done and i get a house
///will go right back to rescuing dogs and cats as soon as i get my place, 'cause thats how i roll

Not, you know to disturb the dust but, can they do that sight restoration thing for humans?
cause that'd be cool too.
