1 "So you have experience running for homecoming queen, eh? Which means you humpity-humped the football team's quarterback regularly?"
2 "I did. He was a lousy lay and an despicable use for a excuse for a human being, but keeping him happy meant keeping the school happy."
1 "Welcome to the Republican Party, Ms. Romney."

Fark Me To Tears: When is this homecoming? I hope they get some really good pictures of her and post them in an article we can link to on Fark. She's 16, but I think we can lavish some PG-13 praise on her and perhaps draw some more attention from the outside world. And maybe we can use the opportunity to slam the mental midget pranksters just a bit more, in usual Fark fashion.

That was my guess. That would have been a step up from my high school dating experiences even if she's crazy.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks she's cute. Though, this is Fark, so I wouldn't have been surprised.

Also glad she's going. Hope to hear of great things from her future.

Attention humans: When a person is "quiet, polite and kind, rarely finding fault with peers and people", then she has already achieved something far more important than "going on to do big things" or "watching the homecoming king and queen bag her groceries later in life".
Now she has to deal with people heaping these expectations of greatness on her. Or wishing some petty and juvenile status-revenge on her stupider classmates over some ridiculous high school drama that accidentally became a media sensation.
The importance placed on societal status over nobility of character is the problematic mentality that SPAWNED the prank in the first place!

TheHappyCanadian: anyone ever consider that Whitney is really a coont and this was everyone's way of standing up to her?

I dunno. Regardless of what she's like, I think it takes a bunch of real coonts to cook up a scheme like this. They could all be coonts -- hell, the whole town could be full of coonts for all we know. Coonts.

However, I'm guessing that this girl is just being picked on because she's different, and maybe because she won't put out for the football team like all of the skank girls who were in on this prank. I'm holding out hope that Whitney will have the grace (and patience) to play this right. The better she handles it, the more moronic it makes the pranksters look.

If this girl really wanted to fix this, she should just announce she's a lesbian. Then it's illegal to make fun of her. She can call forth the mighty power of CNN to smite her enemies, with one poorly written essay.

Gah...this brings back middle school trauma.

Back then, I was scrawny, geeky, no curves to speak of, and wore HUGE glasses and had braces.

I had 3 or 4 good friends, but was by no means popular.

Our school was having a winter dance, for which the students were nominating princes and princesses
to be in the running for Snow King and Snow Queen. I still remember when the principal read the names
of the princes and princesses at lunch - and my name was read off as one of the princesses.

The most popular guy in school was prince to my princess and promptly stood up in the middle of the
very crowded cafeteria and declined.

Fortunately, I knew where I stood in the pecking order so I knew it was a joke. So the popular kids
never got the satisfaction of seeing me get all excited and never got to burst my bubble.

It also helped that Mother Nature took pity on me and a blizzard blew through the area, cancelling the
dance.

/ middle school sucked ass!

Fark Me To Tears: It's amazing how small the worldview is for teens, especially in a small town. I think it would be hilarious if this girl wound up getting a break from someone in Hollywood and became rich and famous as a result. In 10 years, when her fellow students are all still hanging out at the local laundromat on Saturday nights, maybe it will finally sink in just how retarded they all were when they pulled this prank.

Just how it always is. The combination of being sheltered from a lot of the world, being with the same small peer group all the time, and still developing socially leads to a whole lot of importance being placed on some extremely silly bullshiat.

I'm curious as to how this makes news.

If you're an unpopular, picked on kid it's a well kept school secret. Not sure why they have the proms where people get elected king and queen and so forth anymore anyways. It's a venue for the popular and well liked to be more adored and the unworthy to be put down and shunned.

2012-09-25 06:02:42 AM
Other local businesses are paying for Whitney's dinner, gown, shoes and a tiara for the dance.

Still no word on whether anyone will be rendering free knee-rounding services.

2012-09-25 06:08:20 AM
also, junior high, the first year I wanted to make friends and be liked by the others. I wanted to be popular. But I didn't fit in at all. I was different, awkward, wierd, dressed differently(thanks to my mom)

by the second year, I didn't care so much about friends as long as people stop terrorizing me(teasing or mocking I could have taken)

by the time I was a young adult I decided I didn't much like other people anyways. Years later I lead a very quiet, often solitary life outside of work. I do not like many social situations.

True, there are some that do excel. However, most that I've encountered have been poorly educated in science and history, primarily due to their parents doing the home schooling due to religious / spiritual beliefs, and pitifully unprepared for the realities of college. Others have been pitifully bad at social interaction. One actually had his MOTHER write me an angry email because I didn't hire him. He was 29 at the time.

I freely admit that I was overly generalizing.

I know that area well, have a few friends who grew up around there. If you don't conform to the small town country teen mold, you are basically ostracized. The advice my friends would have for her is leave town and never come back after college, leave the biatches at home to rule over the little pond while she goes out and experiences what the wider world can offer.

My closest friend is now actually an outcast according to his former HS peers because he dared make a success of himself and living in a larger town. We both laugh at the absurdity of it.

OK, I'll settle for most mediocre: If she was acting emo in the mid-west, it explains the unpopularity, unwarranted as it was.

Homecoming hasn't been held yet, right? So it's still not too late for her to develop latent psychokinetic powers and get sweet, brutal revenge on her awfully ignorant peers. I'm looking forward to seeing that story on Fark.

Humans still have vestiges of pack mentality, so loners tend to be ostracized for what would have been survival reasons... 3 million years ago. Not saying it's right, just saying there's a base reason.

I admit to being a contrarian, and would have gotten myself and others killed if I was ever in a pack survival situation. Luckily, the world is generally not like that, barring catastrophe.

TyrantII: The shy nerdy ones always end up smoking hot, smart, and well off. The hot tail usually ends up pregnant with a DB or fat, and sticking very close to their hometown. It's amazing 10 years out of HS how true that really was, at the HS reunion.

Parents need to get that across to their kids a bit more, even if you tend to think there's not much besides HS at that point.

Stereotypes aside, I thought that the popular kids generally did better career-wise, due to connections, aptitude for sales and ladder-climbing, etc.
