I call bullshiat. If that science were true married men would live forever.

Yes, but they want to die.

DRTFA, but how did they determine this? is there really a large enough population of eunuchs out there to get this kind of data from?

*sigh*, well one of us has gotta say it...

That's Nuts!

Even chemical castration?

2012-09-24 05:11:52 PM
I believe it.

It's been pretty well proven by veterinary science that castrating a DOG will make it live longer. And, well, we are animals...

I wonder if those certain hormones have anything to do with women?

Obvious article is obvious.

It's takes huge balls or unfathomed stupidity to take huge risks, and some of those risks lead to an early death.

I imagine most Farkers will give Methuselah a run for his money.

Meh.
I rarely use mine anyway.

Well, there's life, and then there's quality of life. I would prefer quality over quantity.
On the other hand, if I ever hit about 120 years old, I may be willing to see if it helps. Ask me (much) later.

It's not actually longer. It just feels like an eternity.

I think you read the article wrong. It appears the excess testosterone is slowly killing males. Doesn't this mean married men have shorter life spans?

The castrated boys in Korea lost their reproductive organs in accidents - usually after being bitten by dogs - or underwent castration purposefully to gain early access to the palace.

OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!

If dying young means not having to have my junk bitten off by dogs, I'm fine with that. 100%. And twice on Sundays.

This study only mentions eunuchs in one culture during one time period. Isn't it a bit of an unscientific leap to say that balls/no balls is the only factor at work?

I'm not sure if the "study" was as stupid as it sounds, or if this is just more bad reporting from the Daily Mail.

Either way, I'll keep my nads.

Yeah, this is not a story where you'd want to read a retraction later.

I suppose the same way that a tame, neutered lion with no connection to nature and who's lost the fire in its eyes would live longer.

Dinki: DRTFA, but how did they determine this? is there really a large enough population of eunuchs out there to get this kind of data from?

FTA: The evidence comes after careful study of genealogy records of noble members of the Imperial court of the Korean Chosun dynasty (AD 1392-1910).

A couple of guys at Korea University found some genealogical records showing eunuchs living about 15 years longer than everyone else.

Stop the presses, Nature. fark ENCODE, these guys have it figured out.

First it was severe caloric intake restriction, now it's castration that will extend your life. In all these studies, they forget:

It's not the quantity of life, it's the quality.

/May die young, but I'm having a ball with life!

So you just went halfway for a slight extension?
