paswa17: Barely half of the NFL teams own their generic teamname.com domains.

Okay, now I'm curious. DING! means it goes to the NFL team.

ravens.com -- redirects to Facebook
bengals.com -- DING!

texans.com -- squatter portal

rams.com -- Colorado State Rams fan site
49ers.com -- DING!
seahawks.com -- DING!

So that's 17 names going to their teams, 6 with other legitimate purposes, and 9 zonks. Not bad for semi-common words.

I went and checked the MLB - 25/30 teams have their teamname.com. The 5 are the Giants (NFL team owns giants.com), the Rays (restaurant owns it, but team does own devilrays.com), the Twins (site under construction), the Rangers (media architects site), and the Rockies (vacation website).

The NBA is pretty good with only 7 teams not owning their teamname.com domain. Mark Cuban is involved with two of them: he doesn't own mavericks.com, but he does own nets.com and makes a joke at their team for not registering the domain. The other teams are the Magic, Cavaliers, Wizards, Thunder, and Jazz.

The NHL is awful, with only 6 teams owning their teamname.com domains. Funny thing is one of them is wild.com, which was one of the two I was worried about visiting (along with predators.com).

Overall:
MLB - 84% owned
NBA - 77% owned
NFL - 53% owned
NHL - 20% owned
