(Chicago Sun-Times)   There's no reason a little thing like a cash bribe should keep you from being re-elected to the seat you were expelled from. Oh Illinois, you're like the Florida of politics   (southtownstar.suntimes.com) divider line 22

You're all re-electing the same worthless incumbents while telling me how both sides are bad and vote the bums out, so don't pat yourselves on the back.

Things like this used to get me really upset.

Now I just accept them as something that happens that I have absolutely no control over.

I'm much more relaxed since I gave up giving a damn. It's pretty nice.

Is that about the same time you acquired your handle? That may have something to do with your added relaxation too.

Well to be fair he's only been accused of bribery right? So he might be innocent.

Except that this is Chicago and any politician there can be considered guilty until proven innocent. It could happen. Someday

Ahhh blow it out your ass, we here in Illinois are as corrupted as we want to be. You know we are so corrupt that it is transparent. If I want to rezone some land, build a new building, add a road, install a new sewer, or get my idiot son a job I know exactly who to bribe, how much, and what form that bribe should be given in.

Sadly, no. :) With everything that's happening lately, even the devilweed wasn't keeping me relaxed enough.

To be fair I doubt most people voting for him know about the scandal and this exact same thing could happen in any other state the difference being that Illinois politicians generally have less shame about their corruption than other politicians who try to hide it by claiming it never actually happened or pretending that they where misinterpreted or taken out of context.

If the news services were doing their job the people would know. Instead, they'll see a headline something like this, "Incumbant collecting donations for orphans harrassed by opposition".
