What the fark kind of idiot would vote LSU #1 after yesterday?

The really great news is now that the Gators get to play #3-LSU, #4-FSU, #5-Georgia and #5-South Carolina. Awesome.

Notre Dame should have dropped after only winning by 7 against a team that committed 6 turnovers. Had Michigan only turned it over 4 times, they would have won.

Why the fark is Wisconsin getting votes?

In the AP, apparently it is the same dude that Kiffen had a problem with @ USC.
I think that it is silly they let people vote who obviously do so with a grudge or personal preference in mind rather than reality.

Sad thing is, after OSU they might be the best team in the big 10. That's not me being a fan.

Side note, LETS GO TIGERS!

Yes, if Michigan had played better, the outcome would have been different.

I enjoy hearing the butthurt from people who just want ND to fail. If ND wins, it's because their opponent stunk it up or was clearly inferior and therefore ND shouldn't receive any additional poll votes. Michigan may well have been a I-AA team from how they played, after all. I believe the appropriate response to such a statement is:

Notre Dame doesn't deserve to be in the top 25 with the weak schedule they play.

Notre Dame has yet to prove they can beat a good team. They've beat Navy...barely beat Purdue....beat a Mich St team that is being brought down by a horrible QB....and a Michigan team that committed 6 turnovers.

So all those wins only count half or something? ND is 1.5-0, that about right?

Did I ever say that the wins didn't count? I said that they haven't beat a good team and I stand by that. I'll guarantee you that they lose at least 2 of 3 against Oklahoma, Stanford and USC.

Because no part of me wants to see the Ducks face 'Bama in the NCG, here is how I'd like to see things shake out for the rest of the season...

Alabama loses to Western Carolina (no way you back into the NCG with a loss to them)
LSU loses to Alabama (hey...it will sting less this time)
FSU loses to Duke (they suck)
Georgia loses to Georgia Southern (see above)
South Carolina loses their next 3 to Georgia, LSU and Florida (I need that to happen for the previous entries to play out as described)
K State loses to Kansas (...)
Stanford loses to Oregon (no snark, Ducks own them)
West Virginia loses to every Kansas school they play the rest of the season (that's only 2)
Notre Dames loses every other game on their schedule (fark Notre Dame, that's why)
Florida loses to FSU (at least)
Texas loses to...you pick the loss (we all know at least one is coming)
Ohio State loses to Michigan (just because it makes some people so angry)
TCU loses to every Texas school left on their schedule (symmetry)
Oregon State loses to the Ducks (and the make-up game with Nicholls State)
Louisville loses to Rutgers (wait for it)
Mississippi State loses to 'Bama and LSU (obviously)
Baylor loses to the two Oklahoma schools (first two teams that caught my eye)
Rutgers runs the table....
Oregon runs the table....

Oregon meets Rutgers in the NCG, neither fan base travels particularly well to Florida, and it is the first NCG in the BCS-era that fails to sell out.

/Ducks win the NCG
//fitting end to the BCS-era
///we all know it will not play out this way, so no need to respond with any oturage

Notre Dame has a good defense. Notre Dame still does not have a good reliable offense though.
Holtz was actually suggesting they could play for a title.
I'll give them a BCS game but they are NOT a National Title contender at this point.
Not that I think they will run the table so the NT should end when they get that first loss, but this could be a 2 loss team.
They sure aren't terrible with a defense that plays really well you can go a long way.

2012-09-23 10:29:10 PM
Boise State being ranked #24 is proof that the AP top 25 is worthless. A team that didn't score an offensive touchdown in 2 of 3 games is a top 25 team?

And FSU may be good but they certainly don't deserve that #4 spot yet. Beating two D-2 teams and Wake Forest didn't make them #4 (Yes I know they beat Clemson but they were ranked #4 last week also).

2012-09-23 10:32:52 PM

Popcorn Johnny: Notre Dame has yet to prove they can beat a good team. They've beat Navy...barely beat Purdue....beat a Mich St team that is being brought down by a horrible QB....and a Michigan team that committed 6 turnovers.

They have beaten back-to-back ranked teams. Also, are you saying that Notre Dame has nothing to do with the turnovers committed by Michigan?

Screw it. Blow up the conferences, set up multiple leagues, and institute a relegation system. That will fix the problem of too many teams playing in a single league.

2012-09-23 10:33:59 PM

srhp29: Holtz was actually suggesting they could play for a title.

Even as a Notre Dame alumnus and fan -- Holtz is just insane. Maybe not in person, but he's at least playing up the "Say crazy crap on air so people will talk about the crazy crap you said and then tune in next week to see what new crazy crap you'll say". That's sort of the ESPN programming model right now (see also, PTI, Around the Horn, any sports talk radio...)

You might want to look at the throws that led to the interceptions.

And the defense gets absolutely no credit for creating the situation that led to the bad throw? Give credit where credit is due.

Popcorn Johnny: Yes, in the first 4 weeks of the season.

So what is the point of the rankings in the first place? It is a horrible system and I have already said it should be destroyed, but don't come on here and say that they haven't beaten anyone good when they have beaten 2 teams that the football community has said are in the top 25. Is it that hard to accept that Notre Dame actually has some talent this year?

Crappy weekend. Michigan and the Lions both lost games they should have won because they couldn't hold on to the ball. And the Tigers just lost a double-header to a last-place team because they couldn't hit one.

When I was little I liked ND, for no particular reason that I can remember.....I'm not really a "fan" anymore, but it's nice to see them starting to get back to being a good team. As an Ohio native (Columbus) and Ohio State fan and an Ohio University grad, it's nice to see Michigan get beat. I think even my Bobcats could take them this year.

/how horrible is the Michigan backup QB that after all those turnovers, Robinson STILL played. Geez, move him to RB and put in a backup QB if they cannot quit drooling over him.

I wouldn't give them a BCS bid, even if they go unbeaten. Play as tough a schedule as an SEC team does and then we'll talk.

To be fair, Holtz always calls Notre Dame.
At this point, it's pretty much a running gag.
I remember him predicting Notre Dame for a national title back when Weis was coaching.

All 14 SEC schedules are tougher because they all play eight SEC teams. ND can't be bothered to play one.

He was grinning like an idiot when he said it and started laughing when Mark May called him crazy for doing so. I don't think he was entirely serious. He is a known ND homer and was playing it up to stir up MM.

I'd be happy if they upped their schedule strength by actually playing a grueling conference schedule,

I don't mind feeding trolls as long as they come up with something funny or original.
In this case, I'm leaving disappointed.

Seriously: I hand him Vanderbilt and that's the best he can come up with?
