The Crowes got through it by trusting the doctors and praying - a lot - for God's help.

Must suck for all the people that God just ignores.

I have a very similar story. When I first went to the emergency room I was at 15% (the guy in TFA was 10%). That was 5 years ago. I'm supposed to be dead but now I'm running at 50% and still wasting my life on Fark. I'm an atheist. I thank my cardiologist.

Goddammit stupid farking people taking credit away from the doctors and the medicine that saved him and giving him to some imaginary sky wizard who couldn't give a fark. Why are people so incapable of giving credit where it is due?

GAT_00: Why are people so incapable of giving credit where it is due?

Because they want to believe that it was something miraculous and feel special. There's also the fact that medicine isn't a very black and white science. What works for one person will not work for another or may make someone else worse. I joke about medicine being a "practice" a lot, but it's true. Each treatment MUST be custom made for each individual person. You can take previous experiences and practices as guidelines, but that is it. In this instance, 1+1 sometimes equals 10.

Christy Crowe was mad.

Mad at the circumstances. Mad at everything.

She was even kind of mad at God.

Who the hell thinks this kind of writing is worth publishing?

No, you're not. You aren't 'supposed to be alive' either. You just are, and that's awesome.

Enjoy it.

Praying: How do do nothing and feel good about yourself. (also take credit for hard working people)

Here's the irony...

Wingnuts will say well, God gave the doctors and nurses the brains and skill to heal him.
Yet when these same doctors use IVF to allow couples to have children then suddenly it's an abomination.

During finals time in law school it was highly annoying to hear / read people say they were praying to do well on the test.
I'm not saying I don't believe in God etc, but I highly doubt the divine being of your choice is going to come down and give you the answers to the detriment of "his" other creations.

Pray if it makes you feel better, but farking *STUDY* too!

investmentsignal.net

The normal thing is that everyone prays, 9 out of 10 dies, then the tenth goes on a speaking tour about how prayer cured him.

Normally the people of Belarus are ignorant to God's works and miracles, but this one - JUST THIS ONE - has seen the light.

At the very beginning of this story I'm going... "Huh..."
Half way though.. "Getting kind of Jesus-y"
By the end "ZOMGWTF MORONS - He had an infection, his body fought it off - God had nothing to do with it!"

If I told these people I prayed to Satan for him to be healed they'd try to burn me at the stake, but there's no more proof that God healed him than Satan.

This isn't news, this is a PR piece for church. Total lack of professionalism from this so called "Journalist."

Well, if you were Christian, God would've brought it up to 100%. Maybe even higher. But, alas.

GAT_00: Goddammit stupid farking people taking credit away from the doctors and the medicine that saved him and giving him to some imaginary sky wizard who couldn't give a fark. Why are people so incapable of giving credit where it is due?

I'm more likely to give credit for the guy's heart going back to normal to the body's amazing ability to heal itself. Myocardial infection isn't much different than any other infection (other than, well, it's yer freakin' heart). The heart just needed a break. So...I guess the cardiologist should get some credit, too.

Just imagine if all the money people waste supporting religion were applied to AIDS and cancer research. We would have cures for all of it by now, or at least be able to feed everybody.

Similar thing happened to a guy at work, a virus had destroyed most of his heart. He rested, it got better. I'm sure of his status with Lord God Almighty because he never really mentioned His intervention in the healing process.

So, in following the tenets of Buddhism, if you came across a woman being raped, would you intervene? Many Buddhists feel that the rape is her Karma and intervening would not allow her Karma to run It's course.

Kind of like this kid, his bad ticker would be viewed as his Karma and giving him a transplant would not allow karma to work.

I know this from being a kidney recipient and know a pair of twins from Japan who had to leave Japan to have double lung transplants. They are currently working to "open the eyes" of the people who are hindering transplants from happening.
