I have, until now. Still, I'd like to know what this term means. Also, who the fark funds something called an "Anthropomorphic Research Project"?

I'm sure this greenlight will lead to a calm and rational discussion which will not at all pit furries against bronies against bronyfurs against haters of both against confused bystanders, and furthermore,

I have no idea. having only heard of it on a radio show that tests whether men are bronies, I assume it's normal fandom - watching the cartoons, knowing all the details. If there's slashfic or Adult cosplay involved, I do not wish to be informed.

If the furries are hating on them, there has to be more to it than cartoon watching and action figures.

Furries were three times less likely to consider themselves exclusively heterosexual than non-furries, four to five times more likely to say they were exclusively homosexual, and far more likely to report bisexuality or orientations such as pansexuality or asexuality

Interesting.

The 23.5% of furries also identifying as bronies did not significantly differ from other furries in most respects; they reported greater experience of bullying, slightly worse physical health, and appeared to have a slightly less-formed sense of identity

Furries did not differ significantly to American non-furs with regard to psychological or relationship health, or self-esteem, but had a more-developed sense of self and identity

Still trying to wrap my head around this part.

Furries are still predominantly male, and do not appear to be reproducing yet

So there's good news?

Yeh, I'd say if you dress like a Disney chipmunk to socialize and have "sex", I'd say you have a pretty well-developed sense of self and idenity. I'd say you have self-realized and accepted your own farked up identity. You probably know some good dry-cleaners, too.

Do they dress up like ponies? How the fark would I know? I'm a less evolved human being. I prefer sex with actual humans dressed up like actual humans. This cartoon thing..well, I leave that to psyciatrists.

Furries are a very well developed subculture that's been around for decades. They have tried very hard to be respected, and more importantly, they just want to be left alone to do their thing without bothering anyone.

Bronies have been around just a year or two now, they have lots of /b/tards, they spew their image memes everywhere, are very high profile, and you can get damn near any of them to admit to wanting to fark ponies. Furries might want to have sex with animals but at least they won't come out and SAY it to a complete stranger. In general, bronies are even creepier then furries. Bordering on rapist territory in terms of their social deficits and creepiness. I don't think bronies are rapists btw, just the ones who are 'out' are just as creepy as rapists.

I showed my public speaking class a speech done by a bronie about bronies and explaining the show as a way to demonstrate how picking the wrong subject matter can alienate your audience.

They refused to believe it was a real thing.
