For the first time in ever, I'm actually torn about whether to watch football or the Orioles this afternoon.

And the loss couldn't have happened to a more deserving team. No matter, the Valentine Era swill soon be over.

Dammit.
Farking Dammit.

Can none of you assbags beat the O's? What does it take, man?!

Friday, the Yankees went 24-over for the first time this season (after failing to do so July 18th [23-over, then immediately ate a 4 game sweep by the A's] then failed 3 times in a row Aug. 15-19th).
Yesterday, they went to 25-over after blowing multiple chances to win it in the bottom of the 9th, Freddy Garcia going all FREDDY GARCIA (LL Cool J voice) and giving up 3 runs on back-to-back homers in the 13th (then Girardi tossed some kid from AA out there to give up another homer right after that), answering with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 13th, then winning in the bottom of the 14th on an error.

The Yankees are on a 7 game win streak.. but it doesn't matter because the damn O's are on a 6 game streak because the Mariners and Red Sox suck ass through a crazy straw.

dammit

I really hope the O's win the division. Oakland Vs NY in a one game playoff would be awesome if last nights game was any indication.

This. So much. I stopped watching when they went down by 4 in extras. I nearly peed myself when I saw they won. But then I saw that the O's did too.

I'm happier than a dog with two tails that the Sox are out already, but I definitely was hoping the Yanks would have a secure place by now.

12 straight? Do you mean 16 straight extra inning games? Or 6 straight wins?

Did you read the days specifically mentioned? Unless you think the Orioles had nearly a week off, what he meant should be very clear.

/Very happy with the 6 game winning streak and 16 game extra-innings winning streak.
//Now, if only the Yankees would drop a few and let the deserving team take the lead in the AL East.

It's still wrong. Even after listing 4 he should still say any of the other 16 straight.

Anyway, I'm just being pedantic and now I realize you probably think this is just a butthurt Red Sox fan posting. I haven't been a fan since they fired Francona, and have watched less than nine innings of baseball this year.

The Mariners are looking to sweep Texas today. How bad could they really be?

I forget where I read it, but the line went something like this:

"The Yankees must feel like Apollo Creed in Rocky. No matter what they do, the Orioles keep coming after them."

Giants clinched yesterday.

No farking thread about it, even though we had one for the Nats.

fark you.

It's maddening!

The Yankees are now 0-51 i think when trailing after 8 innings.

As mentioned, Reds and Giants have both clinched their divisions, and the Nats have at least a Wild Card spot. Braves can clinch a spot with any combination of 2 wins or Brew losses. 2nd NL WC still pretty open.

No one in the AL is close to clinching anything yet (Texas is the closest, whose number for a spot is 5 I believe).

that pretty much sounds like every Red Sox fan...

My team, the A's, are going into the playoffs with five rookies in the rotation. I'm new to baseball- is that good?

Yes.. it means they're fresh.
Pitchers are like produce.. you wouldn't want to make a salad with wilted pitchers would you?

They stopped winning three years ago. I stopped watching this year. I watched all throughout their losing seasons.

You're thinking of Red Sox fans that don't live near the team.

Tigers got an early lead in the night-cap. Closest race might just be the AL central in a few hours.

Very doubtful, the one thing that was most obvious in their series with the Rays is that everyone from the GM down to the batboy has given up on the Jays. A few weeks ago I was sure that the Jays were going to work out some kind of prospect deal with the Red Sox for John Farrell to replace Valentine. After that series, if Boston still wants him, the Jays will pay the plane fare.

I didn't pay much attention in English class, so you may be correct. My thinking was that it could either be as written or "any of their 16 straight".

/I cringed when they tied the game today.
//I cringed harder when Boston scored the go-ahead run, though.

I think you meant to say 'every Sox fan who's been a fan since 2004.' I'm not sure if you're retarded or not (you probably are), but you see, the Red Sox winning is a pretty new concept.

Thanks. I've been a Red Sox fan since I knew what baseball was in the early 80's.

I hate how people just assume you suck because they know some douchebag that started liking the Red Sox in the last couple years.

I'm just waiting for the Red Sox to announce that Bobby V is coming back next year.

"Setting up"? If you don't think it's been epic already, you haven't been paying attention. This has been freakin' awesome the last few weeks.
