"The 49-year-old said no athlete has admitted they're gay while playing baseball and coaches, managers and executives are equally afraid to speak openly about their sexuality."

It makes me sad that it has to even farking matter.

Gay community: "Yeah, we were kinda hoping someone who was at least sorta successful would come out - having the guy who owned the Pirates from the mid-90s to the mid-00s come out doesn't really help negate the stereotype that we suck at anything sports-related."

Well, that explains most of the Pirates streak of losing seasons. The rest can be summed up by the Braves knocking them into oblivion in the first place.

I always thought PNC Park was nicely appointed and helped gentrify a rough part if town. It makes a lot of sense in hindsight

Yeah, I'm sure it was one guy who made the whole franchise suck. Because he was gay. Whatever.

Brady Anderson is gay, at least according to the rumors. And Mike Piazza, although I doubt that one.

I really dont care whos pitching and catching in the mlb, i guess the topic seems as dull as sailor talking about docking.

2nd this really doesnt do much for the movement, you were too scared to be out and proud while you were in the spotlight, now that it has passed you bye, a golden opportunity to shower the sports world with the topic. it would have been on the bottom of every hour on each and every sports talk show. Now it is just fodder to be the butt of jokes. Not being a particularly successful owner on top of an organization also bears repeating.

/At least it wasnt the cubs

Captain Jack is an ominsexual, but then all of sudden turned gay in the Americanized version of Torchwood. I miss the old Captain Jack. :(

That's more or less the headline I decided at the last moment not to submit

After a longer period of unemployment than was healthy for me (missing meals and such), I received a job offer at the Sacramento Union, which is the competing newspaper to the Sacramento Bee (and was a one-time employer of Mark Twain), which is owned by McClatchy newspaper group. The day before I was supposed to interview with the publisher, I was called by the production manager, informing me that Kevin McClatchy (the black sheep of the McClatchy family) had just purchased the paper giving the McClatchy family a monopoly in the area, and there was a 90-day freeze on hiring. I never heard back from them.

/Kevin McClatchy can go suck a dick.

He made the whole franchise suck because he bought the team only to resell it, figuring that the team would be worth more after he blackmailed the taxpayers into paying for a new ball park. And If they didn't, he's simply move them to another market. He didn't give a damn about the actual team or the game.

And altogether clever and original. Truly something that had occurred to no one but you.

Seriously, what kind of message does it send when the owner, not a player, not a coach, but the owner of a baseball team stays in the closet until he's nearly 50 and doesn't even come out to his family until he's buying the team? How are we supposed to expect that a player come out when a dude worth millions, whose life wouldn't have actually changed other than some people running their mouths on sports radio, stays in the closet as long as he did.

Sorry. My GRR button is sensitive when it comes to the gays. I see now it was just a joke and I know you better than that.
