Turns out Turner meant Anthony Michael Hall, who is going to be playing the triangle.

I saw Ritchie Blackmore & Rainbow in 1982(?) at the University of Hawaii's Manoa campus. Rainbow was already notoriously loud, but they had been originally booked for the Neil Blaisdell Center (capacity 10,000+) and ended up in an auditorium that only seated 2,000. However, they'd already paid freight for equipment enough for a 10,000 seat auditorium, so why not use it?

It was so loud that I couldn't hear my Chinook helicopter for a week.

AntonChigger: Ronnie James Dio is only true singer of Rainbow that I'll ever recognize

It would've been weird hearing Dio sing the poppier stuff Blackmore switched to (wasn't "I Surrender" a Russ Ballard song?). Blackmore is the prime example of a constant devolution. From "Made in Japan" to ren faire gimmicks with a car show model...

Turner actually had some pipes, although I never can keep him apart from all the other Malmsteen singers (e.g. Jeff Scott Soto or Goran Edman).

Two different vocalists recorded that song... Turner was neither.

The Turner lineup was a good pop-rock band. I kinda treat them as separate bands who happened to share a guitarist and recycled name. Doogie White was very underrated - it was a shame only one album came out of that band before Ritchie retired to Blackmore's Night.

The Graham Bonnet album was simply awful.

For once, the correct answer on FARK is "B". I was a CH-47-Super "C" Flight Engineer from 1980 to 1986. I got to fly on a Navy CH-53 one time, when taking over-water training. What an impressive aircraft! They're larger internally than a Chinook, but Chinooks have a much larger lift capacity. Not as quiet, as a -53, though. Otherwise, the only advantage a Chinook has is in speed (negligible), and in freedom to change Center of Gravity at will. Because of the tandem rotor system, you can put your heavy cargo just about anywhere in a Chinook. The horsepower is almost identical, but I'd bet that the -53 is probably harder to shoot down because the Chinook's critical flight controls are spread out throughout the helicopter. What branch of the service were you in, so I can FARKie you accordingly?

Understood. My step dad spent 26 years in submarines; (WWII, Korean war and Viet Nam), and my older brother, 8 years in P-3s. My father was a career Marine (Korean war and 2 tours of Viet Nam), and my younger brother was a Marine for six. I spent 13 years between the Army and the National Guard. My nephew has had two tours each of Iraq and Afghanistan, and has been blowed up real good in each of them. Also, the Chinook helicopter (68-15853) that I crewed in Hawaii was a Viet Nam veteran, and is now serving in Afghanistan last I heard.

Aren't all the Chinooks rusted out like early Ford Mustangs by now? The youngest one is how old now, 20?

Nope. Even in Hawaii, you never see rust. Great design, still performs well. My aircraft was originally built in 1968, rebuilt in 1990, can fly 170 knots+ and can carry over 13 tons for three hours without refueling. It had patched bulletholes from stem to stern. Chinooks are Cadillacs of the air, with almost 10,000 horsepower available, enough for single-engine flight capability even carrying a load.

At one time, they were even used as attack helicopters because they could mount an amazing amount of firepower, and carry a staggering amount of ammunition. Plus they could break the cardinal rule of attack helicopters; never overfly your enemy, because they could shoot behind them from rear-mounted .50 caliber machine guns complemented by four more side-mounted .50 cals. They also carried 20mm forward firing weapons, 2.75 inch rockets, 7.62 Gatling guns, and a 40mm grenade launcher under the nose. In all, a formidable weapon only made impractical by replacement cost.

/what aircraft such as "Guns A Go-Go", "Cost of Living" and "Birth Control" looked like:
